Subject: Prayer needed

Dear Friends and Family:

I am requesting prayer specific to a project I am currently working on - I cannot go into the details except to say that it is very sensitive, VERY important to what I do here - and for a variety of reasons, has been extremely difficult to get done.

I have until November 15 to produce something for the USG - and EVERYTHING has been against this from day one. Sometimes, I just want to throw in the towel! I was getting ready to task some of our local staff to go to the ground and look at some things that need looking at to be included in this report only to receive about 5 minutes ago a message from my security manager telling me that the Government of Iraq has instituted a curfew from 0600 November 5 until further notice on all vehicular and pedestrian traffic - so that's no longer an option, at least for now and time is running out.

Things are very tense here - we are waiting for the verdict on Saddam's trial - and there are other issues going on - all adding up to making my job at this particular juncture extremely difficult.

It really seems like the devil is fighting me every step of the way here - the evil in this country is palpable. I wish I could go into more detail but can't right now.

Please would you pray very specifically for the next two weeks for me - my work here - that God will give me the wisdom I need to do the task at hand - that He will open the doors that need opened - and also that He would soften some of the hearts of the people that I have to work with on a day in and day out basis in the USG.

I walk a very fine line and always feel like I'm balanced on a tight rope about to fall off! I can say one thing - I will probably leave this country with the best diplomatic skills I have ever had. It seems like I have to deliver not great news to folks here on an almost daily basis... I think they are afraid to see me coming!

Enough said. Thanks so much for your prayers. I really appreciate them so very much! This is not about my safety - although I appreciate your prayers on that front as well. My life is not in any danger (well, no more than usual!) - these are other issues that need prayer.

With gratitude,
Cyndi
