I am not sure that they do this to all who are insured with them, maybe it depends on what your policy contains. I went to a body shop last week to deliver some new auto parts from the dealership. The body shop owner was full of complaints saying that AllState requires him not to buy new auto parts from dealerships, but they give him websites to buy used parts for cars that come into his body shop to be repaired.
Now if I had a real old car, I probably wouldnt mind, but if you or I had a new car, and even a luxury car such as the carline I work for (Infiniti) I would not care to have used parts installed on my car!

I always say, "You never know how good your insurance company is until you need it."

My mom was with Allstate for over 40 years. A coupe of years ago she had a minor accident which resulted in a claim for a couple of thousand dollars. They cancelled her. Forty years - one claim, and they cancel her.
You are definitely NOT in good hands with Allstate. I use USAA and have always been very, very satisfied. My brother has had GEICO for years, back when it was really only available to government and military folks, and he, too, has been very satisfied.
After the way they treated my mother, I would never EVER recommend Allstate to anyone again.

I had them in Nebraska and my wife got into an altercation with a suicidal deer. They cancelled us too.
What was so interesting was how indignant they got when I cancelled my homeowners insurance with them. They wanted to know why I would possibly cancel my homeowners insurance with them just because they cancelled my auto insurance.
Even after I reminded them that they weren't the only company that gave discounts for having all your insurance with them and I wasn't going to forgo the discount with state farm or any other just because I had always had them they still didn't seem to comprehend.
In South Carolina I have State Farm.

One of the things I really like about USAA is that I've never felt pressured to make any policy changes. I've had auto insurance with them since 1980 and will probably never change unless THEY cancel me. I know I can get cheaper insurance, but over the years they have EARNED my business over and over.
Fifteen years ago, when looking to buy a house, I called them for a homeowners quote. It was very high, relative to at least one other quote I had received. I told the sales rep, "I really like USAA, and I'm not necessarily going to make my decision solely on price, but you've got to come closer than 50% higher."
What she said next astounded me. "You've been talking to Armed Forces Insurance, haven't you?" When I told her yes, she said simply, "Thanks for calling us, but to be honest...we can't touch AFI right now on homeowners insurance."
If you are a military vet, the son or daughter of a vet, or the former spouse (ex- or widowed) of a vet, I encourage you to check out USAA the next time you're looking at auto insurance. They won't be the rock-bottom cheapest, but you can't do better for service and integrity.

I have State Farm too. I haven't had any auto claims but they put a new roof on my house and garage when we had that hail storm in 96.

I have had State Farm since 1970 and nave never had any grief with them. I originally got mine from Johnny Westmoreland in Bethany, OK when we bought his house. I enjoy the warmth of my association with my local agent here in Boise that that is the only bill I make a special effort to pay in person. Nice folks.
