After reading the following article on CNN, I was struck by how well the church is handling the scandal.

The church did not try to paper over it nor did they demonize the accuser - two things that have characterized scandals elsewhere in the Church. I am very impressed with the handling of this crisis.

Lessons off the top of my head:
No one is immune from temptation and/or falling.
Be sure your sins will find you out.
"You're only hurting yourself," is a lie.
Be imitators of Christ, not pastors.
There but for the grace of God go I.

Agreed. I think the church did a good job not rushing to judgment, then handling the actions necessitated by their investigation, without vilifying the man.

It should make all of us a little bit less tolerant of sin in our own hearts.
