Linda's mother, Vena Nelson, died this morning at 90 years of age. Linda was with her at the time.

Vena was a life-long Nazarene. In fact, my father was her pastor at the time that Linda and I were born. Vena died with a clear Christian testamony.

Just last week, we celebrated her 90th birthday.

The funeral services will be on Saturday. I will post details when they are finalized.

I pray that the Comforter will be real to you and your family. This verse came to mind: "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."

Vena was a wonderful Christian, and she will be greatly missed. She was always a blessing and encouragement to me. I'm sorry my schedule has kept me from seeing her lately. You are in our prayers.

It has been less than a month since I lost my mother, so I understand the sorrow of losing someone so dear. We rejoice that she is with the Lord, but we miss being able to touch her and talk to her.

May you both feel God's arms around you.

Dave,

Give Linda a hug for me and give her my deepest sympathy for the loss of her mom. Mom's are always special in our lives, the first to be there when we hurt or when we express joy! The first one's to greet us when we arrive home from school and the ones who accept happily our new helpmates in life. Express my love to Linda and her family! We will be praying that all will go well with the arrangements and it will be a happy time knowing that one day we will meet again, what a reunion that will be around the loving throne.

Linda & Dave,

There was a part of me that assumed that when my mother passed away that it would be her time and it was all in the natural course of life. To my shock and sorrow, I missed her and miss her indescribably. There is not a day that I do not think of her and wish I could have just one more chat. That is an amazing thing for me to say, since I did not consider myself (until after her death) a "momma's boy."

I say that to say...get ready for some sweet sorrow! It is difficult to explain, but there is nothing that compares with the memories of a dear mother. There are two sides to your mother's passing. One is the grief over her absence. The other is the amazing richness over the awesome memories you will share for the rest of your life. So, please accept my/our sympathy. But, also, accept my/our congratulations. Your mother is with the Lord and will be with you in mysterious ways from now until you see her again!

Paul Martin shared a powerful prayer many years ago, "Lord, we know not where we go from this familiar scene, but God is here and God is there and all the way between. And, if we go from all we know to some deep, dark, vast unknown, this we know...we shall not go alone!"

More recently, Jim Diehl turned me on to a prayer, "Lord, we don't know how this kind of stuff works, but if it's possible, would you tell our loved one/s 'Hello' for us, and, 'We miss them, and we are looking forward to seeing them again!'"

Love and Prayers,

Wes & Colleen

Linda and Dave, Rick and I will be praying for you both. Both of our moms passed away some time ago. We were just "kids". The churches where we have pastored had wonderful grandmother and mom figures for us and our children. To be honest though if we could just have one more time with our moms, that would be great...makes us want to be with them in Heaven more each day.

Dave & Linda, we just got back and read this sad news. We're sorry to hear she passed away. Age does not really seem to matter, you just don't want to miss your mother. You are in our prayers!

It has been a long time since my Mom died, almost 18 years. I still remember all the good things she did for me. She was only 61, but left behind a life story filled with caring for others, including her family. I still think about her to this day.

You will miss your Mom, but will never forget her. My condolences to you, Linda and your families. Peace be with you all. My prayers are with you,
