All statewide officials are now Republican. Previously the Superintendent of Public Instruction was a Democrat but that post was won by Tom Luna, an Hispanic business man who has served on the Nampa School Board for several years. Our state treasurer is a Wesleyan who attends Nazarene churches on occasion. The Democrats did increase their numbers in the legislature by 5 for a total of about 10 out of 75. As the old joke here in Idaho goes that when the University of Idaho AG College cloned two donkeys a few years back it doubled the number of Idaho Democrats. Our new governor will be leaving the US House of Representatives for the governorship and the new Congressman was identified by Nancy Pelosi as the only one she knew of that could stand up to her. Bill Sali is as Italian as Pelosi. He is a stong Conservative. Your Independent reporter, JF
