I know this isn't the prayer board, but I believe in the prayers of the ladies on this board. I received this in an email from my cousin in Colorado Springs, Michelle is her daughter-in-law. She is in her late 20's or early 30s. I appreciate your prayers for Michelle and both families.

Michelle (Sean's wife) has been in the hospital since last Monday she has been on a Ventolator and in critical condition in ICU. They did a lung biopsy on Wednesday. Last night they took her off the Ventolator and today the biopsy came back that she has a lung disease and will be on steroid treatments, etc. for the next 6 months.

Here's the update I received today.....

We want to thank everyone for their prayers, things are going much better finally. After 5 days in ICU her lung x-ray finally came back a little better, then on the 6th day it was even better which meant that the steroid treatment was working. Last night they took her out of ICU and put her in a regular room. She is a little grumpy but that is alright she has the right to be after all she has gone through. The final biopsy came back and they have diagnosed her with "Non-Specific Interstitial Pneumonitis" She will have to have at least 6 months of steroid treatments.

Good news...They are sending her home today, can't believe it has only been 3 days that she was on the Ventolator and now her lungs are looking better and she is off the oxygen too. That shows the power of prayer and medicine. She still has a long way to go but we have faith.

Praise the Lord. And just in time for Thanksgiving. Boy that is something to be thankful for isn't it? I'm so glad. God is good.

This exact senario happened with a young lady patient i cared for week before last..she was on the ventilator, smoker for years, probably had to have started smoking in her teens, and on week-ends she would help her husband throw grain and feed to horses. Perhaps both of these combined did a number on her lungs?? I had her sedated as she was continuously fighting the tube and the ventilator that was keeping her alive We also had to tightly restrain her arms to keep her from pulling out the tube in her throat going to her lungs. Her family were not prayin' sort of people. I loved her husband, he was sooo gentle, and made several comments how men at his work came to him to tell him that they were praying for his wife. He was soft in his heart. He went to Walmart for me late one night to get her a wide toothed comb and the spray you put on tangled hair. His comment was "At least i can do something for her, I feel so helpless, just seeing her this way" All our hospital has are the small toothed combs, which are little help in some cases with long tangled matted hair. I came back to work this last Monday to find she also had the tube out of her throat , this happened on Sunday!! Praise God! I really thought there was a serious possibility she would not make it. I worked the floor for 8 hrs of my 12 hr shift on Tuesday and she was up walking the hall. It really did this nurse a world of good to see the progress of this young lady had made. She remembered so little from the days spent in the ICU. She thought we were trying to kill her!! Interesting..The last 12 hrs i spent caring for her i washed her hair and put it in little girl doggie ears..had to apologize to her later for this less-than-fancy "Doo"

anyway..there are some days/nights when all of our efforts are rewarded and this gal made the nursing care worth while.

I was looking back and wondered if there was an update?
