David McClung

Hi folks,
Just wanted to poke my head in here for the first time and say hello and introduce myself.
My name is in fact David McClung and I live in Eastern NC. I actually googled my name just to see what would come back and stumbled onto the naznet community site. I have to admit, I was interested and quickly found a warm and inviting community forum where there was fellowship and Christian interaction among members which I find refreshing.
Big Thank You to Dave and Hans for helping to get me registered and taking the time to welcome me and entend a hand of friendship.
David

During my 12 years at JCPENNEY here in Boise I had customers by the names of Jeff Chandler, Charlie Daniels, Muhammad Ali, Abby Lincoln, and Jim Franklin's wife, whose husband was a merchant mariner and got to see him only a couple of times a year. I also had local personalities such as Dirk Kempthorne who served as mayor of Boise, US Senator and Governor who is now the US Secretary of the Interior, Pete Cenarussa, Idaho Secretary of State for over 35 years, US Senator Larry Craig. At another store I had served US Senator Frank Church, US Senator Steve Symms, current Idaho Governor Jim Risch and local TV newscasters and state legislators. I find them generally gracious and easy to work with.

Seeing your name reminds me of the story of Alexander the Great.

With names so similar, we will both have to behave ourselves.

Welcome David McClung, and is your wife's name, Linda and are you a world traveler and confirmed hiker?
Now that would really be a wierd twist if her name was Linda.. Melissa is her name, She goes by Missy. Not quite the world traveler as Dave , YET, but my wife and I are avid Rvers and we stay on the go as often as possible.
I am a scout leader in my son's boyscout patrol so we do in fact hit the dusty trail on campouts and hikes at least twice a month if that counts...:basic01

Thanks everyone for the welcome, I will certainly keep the noise and hopefully the confusion down to a minimum.:fav08

Something else we have in common. My son, Dennis, is an Eagle Scout. Back when he a teen I went with him when my job allowed. One of our fond memories was a 7 day canoe trip with his scout troup during his senior year.
Dennis and I still enjoy hiking together. This picture is of Dennis amd me on the top of Mt. St. Helens. It was taken this summer.

Welcome, David. OK, I see where you live. I was born in Mecklenburg County near Charlotte, NC and Rock Hill, SC.--my hometown. I have a sister in Gastonia, and relatives in Mooresville.
Where do you attend church, and what denomination? Is it OK to ask that?

I work in Charlotte and live just across the state line in Fort Mill SC. My job takes me all over the state (I'm the Veteran's Business Development Officer for the NC district office of the Small Business Administration) and occasionally find myself floating around the Eastern side of the state. Most often in Wilmington or up in Rocky Mount but if I'm around Goldsboro or Greenville I'll give you a yell. I'd say that I may be in Hookerton but do they even have a bank? :basic03

David, I do not live in NC or SC, but I love to sing, "Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina in the Morning." We have been in the Memphis, Tennessee area since 1973. First, we were at a church in South Haven, Mississippi, barely out of the part of Memphis where Elvis lived. Then we moved to Tipton County, north of Memphis and Dwayne pastored a church there. Then Dwayne became the pastor near Memphis, in Millington, Tennessee.
October of 2005, he retired from the pastorate, and fills pulpits when needed. We are about 20 miles north of the Frazier part of Memphis, and about 17 miles from the Raleigh part of Memphis. Where we live, in a rural area, we have two redlights now. Our girls married Tipton County guys, and we have six grandchildren, so it looks as if we will stay here.
We use to have some good friends that attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The man died. His dad had been a Nazarene minister.

How would you have liked to go all through school being Robyn Hood. When you told someone your name, they did not know that it was spelled Robyn and not Robin. Sometimes people acted like, "Oh, yeah?" Well, Robyn Hood Bray is our daughter.
