I'm glad it was only cookies!!! Brinx probably didn't mind being left alone one bit for a sweet snack!!! HA HA HA
Plus, where you live is not hot, so I wasn't worried about something like THAT!!!
(In Tucson people are arrested for leaving their animal in the car-- so, I kind of gasped when I read the title to your post!!! Then I opened it and had to SMILE!!!)

It's a very different situtation up here in Canada at this time of the year. Dogs love to go for rides in the winter in a car. You can pop into a store for a few minutes and they just curl up in the back seat and wait until you return.
Believe me, it is not life threatening.
But again, if temps got really cold, then we would take the same precations as we would in the summer.

This happened when I was about 8 years old.
My family was getting in the car to go somewhere. It was quite cold and there was a rather heavy rain/sleet/snow mix coming down. I opened the back door of the car and suddenly from out of nowhere a huge german shepherd appeared and jumped into the car. This dog was sopping wet and stinky in a way only a dirty wet dog can be.
Having found shelter, this dog made it plain to us that he had no intention of getting out of the car. Of course, now that he was out of the rain it was necessary that he shake vigorously to get all that wet stuff off his body. Now the interior of the car was covered with dog hair and whatever else flung from him.
As I recall, my mom somehow coaxed him out. The smell remained for some time.

Well, remember, Mark ... Pete did say he'd "get'cha" fer this! That was mean to daVinci ... maybe daVinci will "get'cha" rather than daddy Pete, huh? :basic05
