that Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus were only allowed to spend one night in the stable because the town council met and decided they would have to leave because a Nativity scene was against the town policy of "separation of church and state?"

The city could have condemned the stable as not being fit for human occupancy. Then the city government could have kicked a paying citizen out of the inn and put Mary, Joseph and the baby in the inn at tax payer expense. Then the city could have fined the inn keeper for not having a large enough percentage of minorities. Then the fire chief could fine him for over crowding, lack of fire escapes, fire extinguishers, fire doors, smoke alarms and a proper furnace. Then OSHA could have come in and fined him because his workers didn't get their 10 minute coffee breaks. Then the maid union would go on strike and the inn keeper would go out of business. Then the government would take over the inn and kick out all of the paying guests but let all of the illegal aliens, pick pockets, drunks, free loaders, drug pushers and other low life stay there for free at the tax payers expense. In the mean time, the inn keeper has to move into the stable. :gen01 Wait, that could only happen in America. :gen03
