Now, who is feeling the reality of our area??????
(can't resist the tease, hon.... and can't wait to hear the resident's story...hehe) (actually, this isn't laughable - but laughing helps sometimes.)

Wow! that is close, Jen! Goodness. Which reminds me, being near the Detroit area as you are, don't wear any -- not any at all -- jewelry downtown Detroit. It was how I got a good choking long ago ... won't take time for the story here now.

When I was staying in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, I used to give an elderly man from a nice neighborhood in St. Paul rides to church. After I came back to Wisconsin, a lady in that neighborhood (Kathleen Soliah or some such) who had been part of a violent radical group years before was arrested in that neighborhood where she'd been living quietly.
It was interesting. Not nearly as scary as having someone with a recent history of violence living right close though.

i have not heard this, Gina. Thanks for the heads up. i have been working in the downtown Detroit area for over a year, now. The tight security and atmosphere has given me a fair amount of secure feelings while in the area until this week. This week was a rather dramatic development that resulted in the taking of two nurses and a patient as hostage.
i have been warned to not wear my stethoscope around the neck for the very reason you have mentioned. Your story reminds me of that warning.

I agree about the jewelry also purses.
We just had a ninety year old lady mugged in Wal-Mart. Enough went after the guy that he was decked before he knew what happened. Information I did not know is, if you are elderly, have checks in your billfold or purse and are mugged that is called a Felony in Ohio . This man is already in prison.!!! It happened just a very short time ago.
I do not carry my purse anymore.
There is something coming or is here that has to do with our VISA and etc., that will not have the black strip anymore.
Ayone know about that.??

Didn't they fine a dead body in your neighbor's garage a few years ago? You need to buy a big dog, a big gun and a big alarm system. But look at the bright side, at least they caught him.

We moved to a rural area, and the city has moved in on us. One day, a man was here paving one of our driveways. We learned later, that he killed his Mother before he came to pave the drive.
One night, about 10:30 p.m., two men parked in our drive and went to the house next door. They tried to push past the widow lady when she answered the door. Luckily, her brother was there. We had the TV on in the den and did not know they were in our drive.

And we complain about people not having a work ethic.
