An interesting article by Edith Blumhofer in today's Wall Street Journal concerning Time's definition of influential evangelicals vs. her opinion of 'reality', today:

How does the CotN demomination compare to these reported statistics?

What are the statistics where you are?

On the Canada Central District there are a total of 53 churches, which include 3 Chinese, 7 Hispanic, 1 Korean, 3 Tamil chruches, one Haitian and one Armenian church. That's 30% of our District churches which are ethnic-based congregations and which worship in a language other than English.

Our NMI / Missions conferences, conventions and camp meetings are exciting, colorful, and bring various unique styles of worship in which we can all participate and/or simply experience.

One of the great things about growing up in an evangelical church is the contact with people who either are from other countries or missionaries who've been there. I like to think that kids in the evangelical world have a broader and more sympathetic world view than those who don't have NMI or the equivalent.

The article is interesting. In a way it is sad that we're existing separately as ethnic congregations, yet it's great that we're all out there with the same Christ and the same faith regardless of where we're from.
