I'd say my favorite is "Its a Wonderful Life" . Last night I watched "Prancer" and it was cute too.

I've never seen Braveheart. I didn't realize it was a Christmas movie. What is it about?

Braveheart

*laughs*

You are funny. Braveheart is NOT a Christmas movie. *grins* You are male through and through.

Marsha, it is a war movie.

Now, back to your question - which i think is a wonderful question.

Hmmm...

i have several Christmas movies that i enjoy, but one that i try to see every year is Prancer. One that i strongly dislike *cough* is Elf. There is something about a grown man running around in green stockings that really kerks me out. hehe

Thanks for asking...great question.

I like The Grinch that Stole Christmas - both the cartoon and the movie with Jim Carey.

I like White Christmas.

oops...dang it...I did a Joel....

Ok, since this is the w2w forum (which I did not notice, so, yes, I am a guy) I retract my Braveheart nomination -- and no, it is not a war movie -- any more than Private Ryan is...but, it did have Edward Longshanks portrayed in it...and that is kind of like long-stockings which is kind of something an elf wears.

so....can I nominate The Christmas Story....and, now back to the couch again...sorry ladies.

It's a Wonderful Life is my all-time favorite Christmas movie. And the older I get, the more I "get it".

Hmmm ... first, Belinda, what is "Prancer"? Don't know that I've ever seen it.

'Have to think about what movie(s) I've seen; aren't too many on network TV anymore.

I like the George C. Scott "Christmas Carol".

I also like "One Magic Christmas". It was filmed in part in Meaford, ON. In the overhead shots you can see Bethany Church of the Nazarene, the first church we pastored after we left The Salvation Army.

I love Christmas movies. I spend the entire month watching Christmas movies on Lifetime, Hallmark and ABC Family channels.

My favorite..."Christmas Story." It reminds me so much of my childhood and daydreaming about what you want. John, Stephen and I watch it every year...and this year we will watch it Christmas Day...together, for the first time in 6 years.

We have "It's A Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street." I bought them for John one Christmas.

Belinda, I too do not really care for Elf. That is one is just toooooo silly. And there is one where Dolly Parton is a angel. I do not care for that one, either.

I just bought the DVD today because our VHS copy was worn out. Before we had the VHS copy we had one we had taped from the television.

The George C. Scott version is our "must watch" on Christmas Eve.

George C. Scott makes the character, Scrooge, soooo beleveable. His facial expressions tell the story.

One of the things we used to do in Papua New Guinea at Christmas time was to spend an evening with Ruth Blowers and listen to her recording of "Amal and the Night Visitors". I think I have a VHS copy of that as a musical movie, but I can't locate it right now. Our students always liked the story of "Nester, the Long Eared Donkey".:basic02

I don't recall seeing a single Christmas movie that I didn't like -- even Elf was a little cute!

But my favorites have to be "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" --

And actually my favorites also include the animated ones -- Rudolph, A Year without Santa, Santa Claus is coming to Town -- you know, those little hour-long ones that we all grew up watching? Well, I have them on video and make my family sit down with me to watch them at least once a year -- they all roll their eyes, but I know they enjoy them, too!! LOL

Not to hijack the thread -- but Ruth Blowers is my second cousin (she and my mom are first cousins)! I hadn't caught the connection of your time in PNG overlapping with them until now.

It's a small world after all!

Does anyone remember a wonderful version of Miracle on 34th Street that was made for TV in the 70's or early 80's?

It starred Sebastian Cabot (Mr. French from Family Affair) and it was enchanting. I only saw it once.

I would love to see it again sometime. I keep checking the Internet but alas it has never been put on video or DVD.

I have "It's a Wonderful Life" but when I tried to watch it with my girls they weren't impressed. I like movies that the whole family can enjoy.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is one of my favorites - along with many others already mentioned.
