Unlimited Email Addresses in G-Mail
A new discovery if you have G-mail?
Here is my simple explanation:
Say if your GMail address is onlinediary@gmail.com
The User name here is : onlinediary
You can add any valid sequence of character literal and append it to the user name via a + operator (You can use _ , . and combination of these also)
So I can have unlimited number of valid email addresses like onlinediary+rocks@gmail.com, onlinediary+is_cool@gmail.com, onlinediary+Underscore_also_works@gmail.com, onlinediary@so_does.dot@gmail.com etc etc etc
And mails addressed to these “plus addressed” email address will still land on your normal onlinediary@gmail.com inbox !!! Neat eh?!

I have been using it for quite a while and I really enjoy it. It is much better than previous versions of Yahoo and Hotmail. However, their latest versions come close.

Ah yes, Google has been in the Beta stages for over two years and still in the Beta stages!
They seem to listen to suggestions from their customers and a lot of add-ons have been factored in from suggestions.
I tried to use Yahoo but maybe I need something new? because, in order to get rid of the spam in my inbox, I must click on it to get rid of it? unless there is some other magical way to delete it otherwise?
Therefore I don't like Yahoo for that reason. Hotmail is a bit like G-mail in that you can filter your email better. I use it but G-mail is my choice until something better comes along!
Take note at the top of your G-mail box if you have any other Google product? It places those at the top of your G-mail for easy access like Google Calandar, Google Notebook, etc. but the others do this also.

Cool!
What a great opportunity to double, triple, or quadruple the amount of spam you get within one inbox!

I love google mail. I use it for my personal email. There are many add-on for firefox for it. Google is really trying to be the personal mail system, and they got my vote so far.
Another neat email tool I use is sneakemail sneakemail (http://www.sneakemail.com). This tool allows me to create a "shadow" address. The shadow address is basically a sneakemail.com address that will forward all emails to another address I specify (my earthlink.net address in this case).
So, when I need to give an address to a business for say a rebate -- I create a sneakemail address for it. The sneakemail address will be something like 8s7d8f9s@sneakemail.com. Any email that is sent to the sneakemail address will be forwarded to me. But, lets say in 3 months, they sale my address to some spammer (or a spammer just gets it anyway). I start to get alot of spam through that email address, I simply go into sneakemail and delete the address. Spam disappears.
This is free -- you can also pay a small fee for it. There are also features such as greylisting (which is fedined as :Greylisting is a simple method of defending electronic mail users against e-mail spam. In short, a mail transfer agent which uses greylisting will "temporarily reject" any email from a sender it does not recognize. If the mail is legitimate, the originating server will try again to send it later, at which time the destination will accept it. If the mail is from a spammer, it will probably not be retried.).
For $2 a month, there are other features you get such as more mail volume. I do not use this for anything personal, so I don't even care if someone somehow was reading my email... But, so far, I have loved the service and the little bit of security it provides.

Haha! Good one!
But in Google, most often the spam is filtered really well and ends up in the spam box, not like Yahoo! They seemed to have got a hold of the spam issue and rarely do I find spam in my inbox.

I assume you have the add-on pop-up for G-mail. That is one of the best features and it gives you the "Subject Line" of the email plus the "first line" so you know who it is from and can answer right away if need-be!

Google mail does do an excellent job of filtering. I just like the sneakemail option for those annoying rebate/warranty/give us an email for no good reason times. I also get to figure out who passes my address on. With sneakemail, I can create an email address and each specific instance can have its own address. Then when I get spam, I just check what address it was sent to, then check who I gave that address too -- instant finger on the culprit. And, instant delete. I have even emailed the place once that passed on the address -- they "apologized for the incovenience".

So, that means I could do something like klutzy@gmail.com, and then get klutzy.gina@gmail.com, in the same box, too? FUNNY! Actually, cool ... one just gets the same amount of mailbox space, tho', right ... no matter how many names they use there, rather than the allotted amount for each new name?
BTW, folks, the above addy isn't a good one ... just an example. :basic05
LATER: just was peeking around at it, and it appears that one can actually RELABEL their mail, too, without having to RESEND it to themselves, as one must do over at Yahoo. Might just check it out .................... THANKS for the tip, Bob.

Gina,
You can only obtain G-mail by invitation. So if you want an invite, I can send you one? Just let me know.
Labels are the same as folders in a regular email box.
Once you have a G-mail account, you can also create photo albums and notebooks, etc.

You're kidding! 'Been awhile, but I've had one; just let it sat and didn't really remember it, until you mentioned it. I've had composer729@gmail.com for awhile now. Is there some way we can find out where our "invitation" came from? Maybe it was a Naznetter lo-o-ong ago, and I've forgotten by now??
