Does anyone know how to convert .mov files to a file that can be used in Windows Movie Maker please?
Someone just gave me a digital camera which produces movies and I want to edit them and put several clips together so I can use then in PowerPoint.
Is there a free way of doing this in Windows XP?
What is the best way to do this?
Many thanks
Ian

'Scott' Cundiff helped by prompting me to look at the free Riva Encoder
http://rivavx.de/index.php?downloads&L=3
I couldn't get Riva to successful convert to WMV files but I could get it to convert .MOV to .MPG files and Windows Movie Maker works with these and then I can save WMV files in Windows Movie Maker.
Now I can create movie clips to use in Powerpoint, as if I had nothing else to do in the next few days.
Have a great Christmas everyone and thanks Scott

I had the same problem and tried some freeware, but ended up buying a converter. If the freeware doesn't work, let me know and I will research what I used.

I just downloaded and tried a program called "Super" -- its a big one, 25 megs. Wanted to convert a flv file into a different format. When I tried it with other programs the result was a file that ran too fast.
Using Super, I was able to make a wmv file that ran correctly. I was then able to load it into Windows Movie Maker and edit the file down a bit.
I haven't used Super for anything else yet, but I am impressed with what it did with that flv file.
