For those who like kraut and for German heritage people who like kraut for New Year's Day:
BEEF & KRAUT CASSEROLE
Drain 2 cans of kraut and place in a large buttered casserole dish
Slice one medium onion on top of the kraut
Brown 1 1/2 pounds of hamburger and season
Add 1 can of undiluted cream of mushroom soup to hamburger and stir
Spread the meat mixture on top of the kraut & onions
Top with a layer of frozen tater tots
Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
I made this for tonight's New Year's Eve fellowship. I used a larger casserole dish, 3 cans of kraut, 2 cans of mushroom soup and 2 pounds of ground beefe and made a bigger casserole.
Goes well with buttered pumpernickle rye bread.
