I got up at 3:00AM to take six kids fishing. Wesley Mercer (here on his Christmas vacationa0 and Jacob Mercer, who were the two Mercer representatives, and my four children, Kaylah, Jon, Braden and Tylah. Notice the name Brad Mercer does not appear in this lest anywhere.
We went about an hour down the coast to an inlet that is protected by a rock wall. It looked like the perfect set up for fishing with the tide coming quickly in and dawn breaking over the coast. By 4:30 it was fully light. We saw a number of dolphin and a manta ray fly out of the water. I quickly discovered, however, that the price of fishing from the groin was high. As soon as the lines hit the water they were snagged and broken and I spent the first hour unsnagging lines and replacing the tackle. I finally gave up on the great fishing spot to take the kids around the corner to the interior beach, were there were lots of bites, no rocks but also nothing of significance to catch. We finally gave up at 10:00 after more than five and a half hours fishing and catching nothing. We then went around to the surf beach which was jam packed with sun worshipers, Brad and Karen meet us there. The kids spent the next two hours, after a brief breakfast catching waves, which was easier than fish. Wesley and Jake hired a surf board and had a go at surfing, they did as best as they could for their first try. I then brought my kids home arriving about 2:00 and Brad and Karen stayed on down on the Gold Coast to take their kids to the Miami like, Surfers Paradise.
At last I am sitting down watching the first day of the fifth cricket Test between Australia and England. The Pommies are doing well so far. I hope it is a good game Ian.
