Picking up an idea from Jay Leno, Landon (my son) and some of his buddies did a little project at school today.
He created a petition and began going around asking girl students if they would sign to, "End women's suffrage."
Of the 17 girls (mostly juniors/seniors) he got to today, all 17 happily signed.
1. It's sad that they didn't know what "suffrage" was.
2. It's sad that they would sign a petition not knowing what it meant.

Reminds me of my brother who, in his younger years was an emergency medical technician. After one transfer to a distant major medical center he got back in the ambulance with two female coworkers and started the conversation for the two-hour ride home by stating that he was a male chauvinist. I dont' see him as much now that he's in another state, but from what I hear he still isn't too adverse to a certain amount of controversy.
I agree with your assessment of the situation with your son's friends. It is sad that these young ladies didn't know the history behind the petition and that they were willing to sign it without knowing what they were signing. I'm guessing that teen girls could have done something similar to a lot of the guys in your son's school as well.

And these are future citizen leaders? How troubling. Raising the question, how would the political climate change if we were to go back to all male voting? Just a point for discussion as to how voting patterns have changed since womans' suffrage.

I'm guessing you are right. This experiment just happened to be oriented toward females.
