Does anyone (preachers mostly, I presume) use a small program to keep track of one's sermons? All I really want to file is the title, a maximum of three portions of Scripture, and the place(s) where I have preached the sermon.
Any recommendations?

Thanks Randy, but that is a bit more than I am looking for. A small database program, a card file program really, would do the trick.

Hans,
Greetings!
I am looking forward to any info you find. I have been keeping track of my sermons using Excel lists since the late 1980s, not wanting to get into a full service database in order to do so. Knowing where I preached a particular sermon was quite important, as I used to travel a lot. In my current pastoral assignment, it is more important for me to be able to sort by scripture.
Of course, nothing helps if I don't check it. Several weeks ago, as I made my preparation for January 7, I decided to combine lectionary passages from Epiphany and the Baptism of Christ, due to the unique nature of this year's church calendar. So, I preached from Isaiah 60 and Luke 3. Yesterday, following the service, I was confronted by a saint who pointed out to me, from her Bible, that she already had very similar points in her notes on Luke 3 from a sermon I preached in 2003 and on Isaiah 60 from LAST January! While I hadn't preached the same sermon before, I had preached on each passage separately and failed to check MY notes. Thus, I repeated points and even repeated an illustration. Oh well.
I believe it was C.S. Lewis who said that the best sermons present nothing new, and that we are to remind them of what they have heard before but had forgotten.
Let me know if you find something that will not only keep sermons in order, but smack me over the head from time to time.
Grace and peace,
Mike

Of course it is. And quite good at it she is (Trying out my Yoda dialect).
And if she doesn't do it, someone else surely will. :fun19

Hans, Microsoft Works has a database component. It is simple and easy to use. It also has a search component so you can look for certain themes etc. Would that work for you?

You may want to just look at this and download to try. I don't know if it would meet your needs? You can adapt this little program for just about anything and it will also email your sermons if you wish?
It is called "NoteIt" I use it for just keeping things I need to find quickly.
It may store the hold sermon as well...you would need to play with it to see if it would? Click on "new" and store by heading at the top, (date, or topic)
Here is the web site to download.

I hope it works for you in what you want it to do.
