Hans and I were discussing apple pies. I thought it would be great to have some of you submit your personal apple pie recipes to see the variations in this basic dessert.

Here is mine.

I do not bake much anymore since I am diabetic and John is trying to eat right and exercise, but when I do bake an apple pie it is a very simple recipe.

Barb's Apple Pie

Already made pie crusts
Apples
Sugar
Cinnamon
Flour
Butter
Dash of salt

1. Put one of the WalMart Great Value pie crusts in a pie plate
2. Peal and slice 6 apples, season with a dash of salt
3. Add one cup of sugar, one tablespoon of cinnamon and 1/4 cup flour to the apples and blend until apple slices are coated
4. Put apples into the crust
5. Top with 4 "pats" of butter
6. Cut remaining WalMart pie crust into strips and make a lattice top
7. Brush top crust with milk to help it brown

Bake 1 hour at 35 degrees on a cookie sheet in case it runs over

The pie crusts I make are not as good as the already-prepared ones I can buy. LOL

John likes two kinds of pie....hot and cold.

My father makes the best and prettiest pies ever! They just don't last long!
Sometimes I add cider for flavor and I also add red hots (candy) instead of cinnamon. It's a pretty pink apple pie then too.. I'm hungry now for pie!

Well, other than probably putting more cinnamon in---love that stuff!!---the one addition I'd add, to give it that "zing" or sweet/tart, rather than just really sweet like apples & sugar can sometimes do, unless they're really tart apples, would be some lime or lemon juice ... or sprinkling some "sour salt" (citric acid) into it.

Man, did you ever make me hungry for some apple pie, apple crisp, or just something apple!

Pie crust are good made with ice water , oil and flower, but these days, I buy them already made.
Several tart apples cut up and added until they peak quite high--as they do cook down.
Add cinnamon and sugar or Splenda as wanted.
Then put little bits of margarine or butter here and there over the apples.
Add the top crust and pinch together. Use a fork to make an "A" on top.

I do know how to spell flour, but somehow spelled it flower.
