I searched for a discussion of this and came up blank. Since "M7" is too short for the search feature, I may have just missed it however.
So who's going? This is the third "millennium" conference but will be my first. I'm looking forward to it.

I'll be there!
I missed the original one but I was in Nashville in '03.
(It was talked about a little bit--Dave did a survey earlier about whether or not NazNet should have a booth.)
The "M" is now "Mission" instead of "Millenium."
I reserved housing long ago but just booked my travel last week.

Yes, I remember that, but couldn't find it with a search. Did he come to a conclusion about the booth?

Thanks for the correction. Mission is much easier to spell and it would be nice to know where it is that I'm going. ;)
I reserved housing long ago but just booked my travel last week.
I couldn't get my husband to commit to the idea back in November so we missed the "early bird" stuff. The travel part doesn't require much planning for us, however. We just need to check the gas and oil and load up the ol' Subaru Outback. After being executor of an estate there a couple of years ago, the road to Kansas City is pretty familiar to us -- 200 miles to St. Louis, 200 more to K.C., 8 hours does it. The question is, can we drive almost halfway to Denver and not go on and visit our daughter?
Maybe I'll see you there!
Is anyone else going? Will the NazNet conference-appropriate logo wear be ready by then or will we all have to wear beanies in order to identify each other?

Ahh... here's the link (http://www.naznet.com/community/showthread.php?t=7247) to the booth survey. There wasn't a lot of response but a few more voted in favor than in apathy.
Hopefully, Dave and Linda have decided to go in February rather than in March.

John and I will be there. John is attending the 3rd year of School of Leadership Development. I am assuming that Wes Smith will be there also, since he taught at the one in Phoenix.
I am there as a visitor and loafer....going to the things I want to attend. Probably will show up at the morning service to start my day!
My brother and his family live in KC so I am spending Monday afternoon and evening with them while John attends a SLD on-sight tour and dinner away from downtown KC.
Maybe we can all meet in the food court one noon..Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm not going. It is a cost thing. I cannot justify that kind of expense when it seems there is often a emotional high from these things but then the notebook is put on the self and forgotten about. While I was a Chaplain and sat in the pew rather than leading the local church service, I often heard the pastor/s come back from something full of excitement, sharing with us all, but most of the lay people seemed to care less. It is hard to communicate emotional energy to those who did not expereince it.
I have become pretty selective over the yrs. and have found that when I go to things in which I can take few of my laypeople, their excitement seems to get communicated to other laypeople, etc. and things begin to happen.
How many pastors have been so changed by PALCON that their spiritual depth increased, their leadership skills were enhanced, and their churches grew as a result? Not many I suspect. Yet look at the expense of time and energy and money. I finally pitched the PALCON notebooks I had, making room for those things that have caused a noticable change in me, and as a result, in my people.
The ideas we often see pushed like M7 are pretty good as far as it goes, but I am finding that I need help from those who are actually ministering effectively to those of our post-Christian culture, people who have reshaped worship so that it is highly probable that people will have a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ, that those who are strangers to God's grace become strangers no longer, that those who have found His grace are being discipled in such a way that they understand His grace as much as we can, and who have bought into His mission in our world. Much of what we often hear at these types of events is just continuing to have the chruch do more of the same, only try harder. That is a perscription for continued ineffectiveness.
Anyway, I hope M7 turns out to be something totally life-transforming, over the long haul, for those who attend, and that is has a profound effect on the church in general. It is a huge expense to attend such things and that just is not possible right now.

Big church "get togethers" are very good for us in more ways than I could begin to mention. Just as we need to assemble ourselves together in our home church, the larger groups are also, necessary. We would love to attend more of them than we do. It gives us a bigger picture of our great Holiness denomination. Also, the Christian fellowship is so important. We meet those, who, at times become lifelong friends. We see those that many years ago, we may have known in college, campmeeting, etc. that went through happy and sad times with us--who were supportive of us, and we of them. We NEED these times.
I will always remember the General Assemblies that we have attended. Each time, I came away with a greater feeling of the wonderful holiness people and leaders in our denomination, And, that is not to say, that the Nazarenes are not the only ones. But, it is our zion, and we love it.
At times, I have felt sad, concerning the lowering of standards, but being together with likeminded ones such as I, and Dwayne are, I am still able to see our church as holiness witnesses and light houses to a sin darkened world.

Thanks for the invitation, Tom. It's on my short list of workshop choices for that time slot. I'd love to meet you there. I've enjoyed reading the exchange on the "book review" forum.
A question: Is the workshop more of an overview of the book for those who haven't read it or "further discussion" for those who have?

Marsha,
I'd love to meet you at M7!
The workshop is part overview - part "critique the author." I'll be talking about the need for an integrative paradigm to make sense of the diverse notions of holiness found in the Bible and in the holiness tradition.
Hope to see you there...
