I have been a committed Netscape user for many years but the one on my home computer started getting cranky this past weekend. Some links simply would not work and some images would not download. I tried rebooting but nothing helped. The problem appeared to start after I updated my Java but I don't see why that would have an impact as neither the links nor the image were associated with Java.

Rather than reinstalling Netscape, I have decided to switch to Firefox. However, I want to change the theme and for some reason this will not work for me. I tried two different versions, restarting Firefox and rebooting. I still see the same old plain Jane version.

Any ideas about what the problem might be and how to resolve it? Note, I have assumed that the theme download is self-installing and that I don't have to do anything further to apply it. Have I missed seeing an "apply new theme" link in the main toolbar?

Go to Tools.

Select Themes.

Highlight the one you want to use and hit the "Use theme" button.

You may or may not have to restart your Firefox session in order to apply your new theme.

That should do it for you.

Thanks Kevin. I will try that as soon as I get home tonight.

When I downloaded it called for an automatic restart. I thought that was going to put the theme in place but I guess all it did was add it to the available list.

I didn't know that option existed. I went to "Tools"/"Add-ons" and checked out the add-ons, and found the theme options, then downloaded one. I then selected it, and after re-starting the computer, it works!
Thanks for the tip.

My Firefox appears to be different than yours. :basic04

Under Tools I have:
- Web Search
- Downloads
- Add-ons
- Error Console
- Page Info
- Clear Private Data
- Options

In opening Add-ons, as Cecil has done, my only choice is for "Talk Back". I downloaded 2 different Themes but see none of them in that window.

Jerry,
I am using version 2.0.0.1 and I have the above menu items under tools, plus:
Sage
Fireftp
Tab Mix Plus Options
Session Manager
Under "Add-ons," I chose "Get Themes," which took me to the Firefox website, where I could choose various themes.

BTW, the additional menu items above are the result of my adding several other things from the Firefox site.

Good luck,

I can get to the site to select and download themes. However, they do not work after I download them.

Jerry, when you select add-ons do you see to the right of the extensions list icon on top something called themes? If so click on that Icon and that should bring up the installed themes list. Then select use theme. I also have updated to 2.0.0.1 so if you have 1.5 it might be different.
