I hardly ever leave my bed,
and if I do men run in dread.
But I'm not lazy, rarely slow,
as from place to place I go.
My place was early in God's creation,
and I took part in man's damnation.
Some say I'm angry, other's kind,
yet I surely do not mind.
While to some men I've brought great wealth,
if you'd cross me do so with stealth.
My final clue this riddle to solve,
is I eternal life involve.

Here is another riddle with the same answer.
I can run but never walk,
have a mouth but never talk,
have a head but never weep,
have a bed but never sleep.

I follow the rationale for the answer except for the line, "and I took part in man's damnation." Is that some tricky play on words or did I miss something the last time I read my Bible? Or is my mind numb this afternoon?

The only answers that I can find that might apply to the question are in Revelation 12 and 16. The original answer I have quotes Rev 22:1, so I don't think that is what they were talking about.
