I just placed my order for the NT MP3s.
I'm curious if any of your churches are intentionally not participating. If not, why not?

Wilson,
Greetings!
Interesting question. I just placed our order today as well.

John has ordered the material for our church. We did the Faith Comes by Hearing with Bible on cassettes 6 years ago and it went well.
We are looking forward to getting our teens involved this time.

Wilson, would you please provide some further information about this: Is this available to all churches? From where? Is there an internet link to additional information?
Thanks.

All churches? USA for sure. Canada, I assume so...
It's a headquarters thing in conjunction with American Bible Society and Faith Comes By Hearing.
Ordering is supposed to be "pastors only."

I placed my order yesterday. I had two phone calls previously (both messages on my answering machine) asking me to order.

We were approached by the Faith Comes by Hearing people last year and got the CD's a few weeks ago. Wow. For once we were ahead of the curve. :)

Thanks Wilson ... I've passed the webpage to my pastor with an encouragement that we participate.

Hey Wilson,
What is the difference between these and the New Testament I already have on CDs?
It seems that they are also trying to sell a "Proclaimer"? Sounds like a regular CD player with solar power.
Maybe I am missing something.

It might be the only difference is that not everyone already has one on CD. I don't.
As for the "proclaimer," I didn't read up on it.

The proclaimers will be purchased with the love offering taken at the end of this program and sent to mission areas that have no electricity. They will run on solar power and can be played anywhere so that people who cannot read can hear the Word of God. They are also called transponders.
John found portable CD players at WalMart that allow MP3 format. We are going to make them available to our people who do not have anything at home to use to hear this MP3 CD. They are $20 compared to the $30 MP3 players offered by Hosanna.
The MP3 players offered by Hosanna are already formatted to play these CD's. If someone buys an M3 player anywhere else, they will have to format it on a computer to be able to play this project.
We had a zone S.S. rally tonight to introduce this program.

I think our pastor has ordered them, maybe on CD. He was showing me the sample he had last time I talked to him.

I wasn't paying attention.
Yes, it should have gotten through my think skull that regular CD players would not play these, but it didn't.
So now, after showing the video in church this morning, my tech people came to me with, "Mike, did you know that..."
So of course, most of our folks will not be able to use these at all. And many of the folks would want to play them while driving to work on their car CD players, but won't be able to.
I know that this is my fault, but it is disappointing.

This M3 disc will play in most computers and some newer cars. It will also play in some DVD players. The M3 player is less than $20 at WalMart, but I will just play it on my computer.
Our sound man said it plays in his newest car CD player.
I expect fewer to use this as they did the cassettes 5 years ago.
The children's version is worth having to use in children's church or S.S. class.
We are giving these out next Sunday instead of Easter Sunday. If we have a lot of visitors on Easter Sunday we will not have enough for everyone.
John is urging everyone to take one, even if they cannot play it. He wants people to give them away when inviting someone to church or to a lost loved one.

I'm distributing about 30 of the MP3 players on Sunday (my disappointment was that we were told at one point that they would allow a data connection so you could reload them with music afterwards...you can't). A couple of people will take the MP3 CDs, and I'm making about 5 sets of audio CDs for the rest.

Jon,
That seems like a good thing to do. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to do that.

We have receive ours and one of our new Local License recipients is to lead our congregation. She really has a heart of this project.

We've asked each participant to pay $15 for their MP3 players or $10 for a set of CDs. The $10 is intended to cover the CDs and the box that we'll put them in. Our SS fund is paying the remaining $14/MP3 player.
