View Full Version : What does the check mark mean?

I just posted a new thread, and my post as a rating of a check mark. I didn't do that, but I am flattered. I wonder if it is my humor or my ability to get some folks riled. Seriously, where does that check mark mean?
Edited to add: I see that even this post has a check mark. I like it; I never was given many check marks in school.
Edited again: I see now that the rating indicates it is a thread to which I have posted. So, how is the check mark rating to the right of the title different from the envelope with an arrow to the left?

I think that check mark means that you are subscribed to the thread. In other words, you are "subscribed" to any thread in which you have participated. I hope I'm right about that.

If there is an arrow in the envelope, that means that you have posted to the thread.
The little "v" looking mark before the title, as well as the "right facing '>'" under "New Posts" will take you to the latest post in that thread (here again, I think that is right.)

Yes, Cecil! Thanks. That makes sense to me. In other words, I am automatically subscribed to a thread to which I have contributed. I am assuming I can subscribe to other threads which would result in my getting email versions of the posts. Now I can go on with life. Thanks for the insights.

Yes, when in any thread, choose "Thread Tools" and you can subscribe to that thread.
In fact, I have just done that with your "Favorite Restaurant" post so I can see what others are saying. I have not posted to that thread yet.... gotta think about it first.

Cecil, since you seem to so helpful today, let me take advantage of you. What do you mean by the quote below? I can't figure that out.

See attached.
I don't have an example of the mark which appears just before the title because it apparently appears only after you first post.
The other two icons are shown on the attached.
Hope this helps.

Yes, Cecil, that does help. I was looking in the wrong place. I slowly am learning this new forum. Your help has put me farther down the road.
