Re: Has the sun set on Sunday school?

With regard to the apparent repetition - we make sure that we don't judge a book by its cover. :) However, it might help to make sure there are different colors - 50 shades of the Dialog series. ...

Re: Has the sun set on Sunday school?

Our Sunday School is dying. We are usually down to 2 adult classes. There are 2 children who show up pretty often and 2 teens on occasion. But there is something useful and important still...

    Anyone have snow pictures?

    Dana[/QUOTE]

I'll title this one: Weekend in New England - with relevant selections from an old ballad:

    Re: Snow pictures, anyone?

The first one is our new kitten watching her first snow in November. It kept her entertained for hours. You might be able to see the flakes flying by the window. (taken with an iPad mini)

    Re: Snow pictures, anyone?

It's the same issue in Upstate NY - winter and summer look an awful lot alike.

    Re: Snow pictures, anyone?

    Dana,

when I get home I'll post some pictures of snow. Some are on facebook already.

I think I'll try to make it a "challenge" : pictures that tell a story.

So if others have a winter...
  7. Re: What is different about the NPH "scandal?"

    Dave,

[I was not reelected to the board in 2005 (approx) so I missed the latter part of your presidency. Also, I didn't join the board until 2001.]

    I sort of agree.

    I had forgotten the...
  8. Re: What is different about the NPH "scandal?"

    Dave, Bruce, Anita, Jeremy,

There sure are a lot of us ENC crisis survivors on Naznet. We should have a reunion!

I would echo Dave's 3 points as takehome messages (I might come up with a few...

    Re: Low temperature competition...

We had -11F here in Albany. This winter we've had two -13's, two -11's and several -8's.

Do two pairs beat a -30?

    Nazarene Re: NPH report (link)

some of my opinions/observations regarding this sub-thread (relationship between boards and CEOs):

Church boards are operational in nature (I think this has been mentioned before). eg when a...

    Re: Replacing pews with chairs

    marsha,

moving 3 pews was very easy for us. year after year the children's program director would ask a few of us able-bodied people to move the choir pews so that we could have christmas as God...

    Re: Replacing pews with chairs

No - of course not. We are a Nazarene congregation. There is a glacial pace around non-essentials/practical/"we need to do this right and only once" kind of thinking which is frustrating in other...

  14. Inspirational Re: Science increasingly makes the case for God

Excellent experiment Jon. Alabaster counting is in February - I think I'll have access to 1024 coins then. I wonder how patient the other counters will be. :)
  15. Inspirational Re: Science increasingly makes the case for God

I am pretty sure he is assuming that things either happen by chance or by design (an intelligent designer, of course). That is a false choice. Physical forces do not happen by chance as in the flip...
  16. Inspirational Re: Science increasingly makes the case for God

Metaxas' science is wrong here. The physical forces at work are not random like flipping a coin (which also makes Carl Sagan wrong in his initial calculations) - in fact, the physical forces are...
  17. Re: How can we help small churches afford resources?

Lori and I love Jon and Melody's work - especially hers. :)

If we could get a similar arrangement for copywrite-protected works for the hymnal and the ABS series (I think Lillenas), it would be...
  18. Re: In case you wondered who really owns the old Premier building

    Jim,
I don't think a mortgage could be transferred easily. The mortgage, property, owner and debtor all need to be the same.

I think the loan was taken out on the company, premier. Additionally,...
  19. Re: In case you wondered who really owns the old Premier building

because the building was not part of a gift. it could be that wolfcreek still has addtional debt that we would not want to have any part of.

the real question for me is why there was no law suit....
  20. Re: In case you wondered who really owns the old Premier building

    Bob, et al,

Everything that I have read says that the loan was part of the corporation (Premier, i.e. the stock that was gifted to NPH).

My belief continues to be that the loan was called...
