    Gutter Gards

Have any of you had any experience using the Leaf Guard or the Gutter Cap? I am about to get new gutters. Thanks.

We used some kind of screen for a while, but the seeds from our tree fell through the holes. Ask the Builder recommends MasterShield.

Thank you very much. The video seems very much like the gutter cap. Has anyone had any experience with leaves staying on top of the gutter and causing the gutter not to function.

We had them installed perhaps 5-6 years ago and LOVE them. Our gutters - then downspouts - will get filled with leaves and overflow. The only way I could clear them was to take the downspouts apart, a job I hated.

    They stay clear now.

I highly recommend them, unless you like working from a ladder, during the rain.

Thank you very much. Sounds like what I need as I have lots of leaves and pine straw. There are several different names with different features. i.e. Leaf guard, Leaf filter, Gutter Caps, gutter Guards, Gutter helments etc. Which particular label did you get?
I like your photography and the songs you post.

Just noticed yesterday for the first time [don't tend to watch the roof here] that while leaves cannot get in, the ones with holes definitely have let some sort of seeds in here, too, as plants are growing up 5-6 inches tall out of the gutters ... and suppose roots could eventually block them, too.

We have some sort of screen wire cover on the gutter at the back of the garage, which is tucked under the edge of the woods. I still clean that gutter once a year or so, but it is much easier -- mainly scooping out roof 'gravel' that gets washed down. The leaves don't accumulate on it. And they would be knee deep on the deck a few feet away in the fall if we let them.

Come to think of it, we should get some more of that stuff for the house gutters.

Edit: I was wrong. We have the expensive covering on the back of the garage directly under the trees and I do hardly any gutter-cleaning there. The less expensive screen-wire stuff is on the front and that's where I still do some cleaning but less than without it. It has been a while since I've been up there and I forget in between times.

You are correct that the new gutter gards are expensive. I have decided to go with one called Leaf Guard. I have lots of trees. Thanks for your input. Mildred

I think that you will be happy with your purchase. Leaf Guard is the best system made.
