All my contacts, calendar, and notes are through Outlook and syncing with Palm has always been smooth. Once something works well for me, I don't mess with it.
But I have now been dragged kicking and screaming into the Droid world. My last Palm was a Centro and as it started to have problems I found there was simply no replacement. After much research I went with the Motorola Droid Bionic. Am with Verizon and was out of contract. Got a good deal and I must say I am shocked at what I had been missing.
Read a great deal about the challenges of keeping Outlook synced with it, and just decided to give the Google apps a try and consider leaving Outlook. Oh my...wish I had done this earlier. The contacts are great. Much quicker and cleaner edits, lots of options, and I love the seamless automatic updates. And the pictures. Not as thrilled with the calendar, but it is okay. Just a couple of quick .csv exports/imports and I was done. Forever. No more hassles syncing. The MLS stuff is excellent, and I was able to reduce my monthly data feed to a $16 per month plan from a $35 per month plan on the Palm. The Bionic can get much of the data without the proprietary MLS feed. Opening lockboxes requires a bluetooth/infrared fob that cost me a one time fee of $50, and it is something else to keep track of, but I think it was worth the trade-off to save $20 per month.
The phone blows me away. Just stunned. The screen, the speed, the applications, wow. Just wow. And my battery life is excellent. From what I had heard, I thought I would have to charge during the day, and I don't. So far, I have 20-40% of battery left at the end of the day. I do toggle off GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi when I don't need it, but I'm not sure I really have to.
Have only had it a few days, but I am really impressed.
