Ronald Miller from South Africa (and not long removed from Madagascar). Because his in-laws live just down the road from us, we have a special connection with him and his family. Shelly didn't get to join us this time. She and their older two children had already left for South Africa to catch the beginning of the school term. He was leaving the next morning with their two little ones. I can't even imagine a trip that long with two small children and no other adult.

We had Brian Utter in March. He is the director of World Mission Broadcast and program director for ONU's Shine FM radio. He's a wonderful speaker.
Last fall we had Steve & Debbie Baker, who work along the US/Mexico border. She helped him preach from the front row. Really exciting service!
Spring 2015 we had Scott & Jenny Rainey from Ukraine. Jenny is our pastor's cousin, so we had an 'in.'
Fall of 2014 we had Mike and Julie Shalley, who were beginning their last furlough after leaving Namibia for retirement. Mike has since become my boss at Christian Literature for Africa.
Spring of 2014 we had Ron and Shelly Miller, who Marsha mentioned. That was when they were still in Madagascar. Shelly spoke in our church years ago, just before she went to Africa as a single, volunteer missionary.
This fall we're having Gina Pottinger. I'm looking forward to hearing from her.
I won't go any further. Reminds me to try and book someone for next spring. Next year may be tough, because most missionaries put off their furlough until summer so they can go to General Assembly.

We had Ashley Huber from Croatia for our spring Faith Promise service. She was terrific. Only 25 years old, but so well-spoken. Her family lives in Ohio, so it was an easy drive for her to come to Fort Wayne on Sunday morning. I think she's going back to Croatia soon.

In July we're having Matt and Sarah Marshall, who are at SANU in Swaziland. That's exciting, Edna Lochner is part of our congregation, and she served in Swaziland for 38 years.

We also enjoyed having Ashley with us a few weeks ago.

Ashley grew up in the Ephrata Nazarene Church on the Philly district. She is the daughter of friends of ours who were in the church when Karen and I were on youth staff there.

Last Fall we had Chuck Tate who pastor's Rock Church in East Peoria, IL and who wrote a great little book called 41 Will Come. Chuck is a personal friend and won the ReWrite Conference a couple years ago and his message of hope was a great boost to our church.

Last Spring we had Todd & Connie Aebischer from Asia-Pacific join us for a Faith Promise weekend and they were fantastic. They have roots in the Rogue Valley so having them come was a big win and I'd highly recommend them if you ever get a chance to have them at your church.

We had Pastors Elizabeth and Julian Sanchez from our newly organized Spanish Church in Lancaster, PA for Faith Promise. They were wonderful!

Our only claim to fame (as a speaker to our congregation) was when the Reverend Ian Smallbone spoke at our special 140th anniversary service recently. Back in the 1970's he was a part of a well known popular music group called "The Family". (He became a Uniting Church Minister in the late 1980's.)

Is this them, David? Sort of sounds like the ones who were singing what said the 60th, in 2012, which I figured was for one of them turning 60.

Yep Gina, that's them. He in fact is the guy singing on the first link and the one on the right (with the long hair..... well it was the 70's) in the photo. Actually his voice hasn't changed that much.... still sounds much the same. Good find.
