Could be we were there at the same time. We were staying near a subway entrance for several days, went w/family, and one day I needed to give up (was after the accident winter before), go back early by myself & lie down. Well, got lost on the subway instead! (missed my stop)

To know and to serve God, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth, that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard. But a little faith will see you through.

Seem to remember travelling the Montreal Metro only once and missing our stop . Usually we drove wherever we were going . My brother was living in Dorion which was our side of the city so we didn't have to travel across . That part was nice .

Maybe my memory is faulty, but I remember that they had managed to control the climate on Krypton, then changes started to take place and the control systems failed. Just before the planet exploded Superman's dad Jor-El, shot Superman to earth in a capsule. Or something like that.
Was weather the cause of Krypton's destruction? I thought its unstable core caused earthquakes and, ultimately, the planet's explosion. Jor-El did understand the phenomenon and tried to warn the leaders, though ... much like Gore-Al and global warming. (But I can't go there until 10 posts -- at this rate, a long time away. And it's probably not a discussion in which I want to participate, anyway.)

On a separate note, can someone please describe for me just what constitutes a "snarf", and whether it is a feather one should endeavor to pluck?

According to Wiki the most common used story is the planet exploded due to an unstable radioactive core. I personally like the new revision of the superman story in which a neighboring planets ends up blowing up Krypton after long years of warfare.

To us a snarf is a post with some numerical significance number post that you happen to get . Some come accidentally , that is the person posting is not aware of getting it , others are contriverd with as any as a dozen posts in a row to reach that number . Significant number examples are ending in 000 , palindromes - 6776, consecutive - 7654,doubling like 7676. I know there are more but that should give you the idea .

11 posts this time and mine got 3 minutes , 1 hour and 33 minutes and 8 hours and 35 minutes being last .

What surprised me were the huge mall-like places underground by the subway/metro!

ETA: (not sure how many/few places like this there were) ... are they still like that?

Had seen it a few times but just love Shirley Temple .Was a bit taken back when the warning was posted " Mature subject matter , viewer discretion advised . " And repeated after each break !!!

Very strange for a Shirley Temple movie, I agree. Hmmm ... wonder what their reasoning was for that?

Same here, although the weather service is showing only a 40 percent chance for showers. I'm going to plan on it not raining, it remains to be seen whether I'll get wet or not today.

This one was an accident. Honest!

Next week should bring different weather for me, looks like I'll be in Florida from Tuesday till Friday morning. Looking forward to visiting with my dad, not looking forward to the heat.

Not quite , Gina . Last June when I renewed my driver's licence I paid $ 40 more ( for the 5 years ) to get an enhanced version that will allow me to drive across . I think I could go by boat as well.

Tampa is the destination, my parents live in Largo which is across the bay. Hopefully it won't be too hot down there.

No we can no longer cross over with just a license. The U.S. has two forms of passport. The regular passport is good for all travel outside the U.S., I should say all "legal" travel, as I don't think that a passport will work for travel to Cuba.

The State Department also offers a cheaper alternative called a passport card. It is valid for land crossings such as Mexico and Canada. The passport card looks like a license or credit card, but it carries a transponder chip that brings your information up automatically inside the customs station to make the crossing easier. I use mine for snowmobiling because it's plastic and I don't have to worry about getting it wet. I think that they are $45, a regular passport is $95 I think.

Travel to Cuba with a Treasury Department license is "legal" under US law ... and a passport definitely is needed. From the steps of the Universidad de la Habana:

Neat! Are the licenses difficult to obtain? Years back I had heard that the way to visit was to go with a group from Canada, supposedly the Cubans would decline to stamp your passport, keeping your secret from the government. I've always wanted to see Cuba, never had the guts to try the back door method.

Re: Who will be the last person to add to this "never ending" thread?

We travelled with a group of business students from my wife's alma mater who were participating in an International Business class. www.onu.edu/Cuba. A number of colleges take students, but I believe in the last few years many travel agencies run "educational" trips that qualify for the license.

With our limited Spanish, we tried to convince the Cuban Border Control agent in Havana to stamp our passport as we were "legal". But she refused ... for our own good, she insisted.

We sure do! I think we are past the point where anyone here actually wants to "win." Sure would be a lonely place this.

To know and to serve God, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth, that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard. But a little faith will see you through.

Ah, so it is true. Thanks for the information, I may check to see if I can find a bona fide "educational" trip. I would love to see Castro's Cuba before things change. The forbidden nature of the place holds a certain fascination.

A passport stamped in Cuba would be a conversation piece for sure!

Right now getting a/c ck'd out, that I learned in March when it hit that UNusual 90 was not doing as it should.
