Right ... It has sort of become the "daily trivia" column.

Amen to that! And good morning to all!

I'm off shopping today for our Church Memorial Day Cookout. My task is to provide the hot dogs and condiments. I'm going way out on a limb and purchasing red hot dogs and poppy seed buns. Along with chopped lettuce, tomatos, pickles, vidalia onion with mustard and celery salt. Hopefully my modified "Chicago Style" hot dogs will be a success.

It's very rare for me to venture out past heating up something in a can or boiling water!

Speaking of breakfast, I had better hop to it!

Breakfast will be the incredibly exciting combination of a toasted bagel with butter and a medium coffee.

And I still can't lose weight!!! Aaarrrrggggg!

Jim, I like my hot dogs well done with just mustard and relish . Too many things would spoil them , at least for me .

Current temp is 73º but going up to 82º today .

Re: Who will be the last person to add to this thread?

Speaking of hot dogs, a rarity here, sometimes will slit them & put stuff inside them, instead of putting them in a bun w/the stuff outside of it (that's on-sale Hebrew Nationals, as I'm sort of a hot dog "snob" when I do succumb to such a hankering, trusting them to leave snouts, etc, out, like the ingredients would lead us to believe ).

Thanks for this post, Mr. Chabot. The photo certainly adds interest to the daily "trivia". I didn't believe civilized folk could make a hot dog without kraut ... but this picture might compel us to expand our horizons.

My oldest brother used to fry his hot dogs in butter and wrap them with white bread. Exquisite. He passed away from heart disease 12 year ago, though. Perhaps some connection. So I'm treated to a hot dog only once or twice a year now.

He was a Vietnam veteran and will be in my thoughts as we visit cemeteries this Decoration Day. But now so will your hot dogs. I hope you all have a blessed and enjoyable church picnic and holiday weekend.

Love kraut dogs with mustard and celery salt. They call them "race track" dogs around here, not sure exactly why.

I suffered a heart attack about 13 years ago, so hot dogs are not usually part of my diet. Normally I buy Hebrew National because they are lower in fat.

The Vietnam war ended before I was eligible for the draft, I remember the war well though. It was really sad how the veterans were treated when they came home.

Oh and hey, Mr. Chabot is my dad, you can call me Jim.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if Mark did do something like that. (hear that, Mark!? er, I mean didja see that ... you've not given up lurking yet, have you? )

Admittedly, Mark did have a good idea here, didn't he? Yes, indeed, a kewl idea !!

At this rate we will never get "there."

Unless I determine to "Burma Shave" my way "there." Hmmm. 40+ post Burma Shave rant, that could be record setting!

Neat, have you posted any of them yet?

I've got to find a few extra minutes to post some pics I have near the trains. There is a site about 40 miles to the south where a B-52 crashed into the side of a mountain.

Which, since this is the thread full of trivia ~~ along with some substantive posts too, I must add, lest anyone feel some of their more-than-trivial posts are considered mere trivia ~~ brings this to mind ... again:

There being a lot of difference between "bathing" and "swimming," began wondering when I was a kid, swimming everyday, why anyone would call a "swimming" suit a "bathing" suit ... unless it was either someone who could not swim, or those referring to those who could not swim, suggesting these folks only sloshed around in the water as if bathing, and were definitely not "swimming"??

However that came about, we recall eons ago when the manual included a nix on "mixed bathing." Well, of course! But that would, in actuality, be something totally different than "mixed swimming."

Dana, you put too many sentences/phrases in one post to help too much. The way to get to a far-away desirable # is the Burma Shave style.

To know and to serve God, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth, that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard. But a little faith will see you through.

Not so fast. Not so long ago, a challenge was issued, a serious threat coming from a skilled and practiced challenger.
