That's why they are back! I'm sure of it!

Welcome back Tinker! Long time no hear from!

Glad to see you have stopped back at this wonderful place of respite Kevin. Here you will find peace.

To know and to serve God, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth, that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard. But a little faith will see you through.

22 posts this time . Been ages since we have had that many in a day. Of course Jim had 10 of those and Gina 7 so that didn't leave much for the rest of us . My two posts only got 8 minutes each time .

Congratulations ,Jim , on another contrived snarf - a real biggie ---# 8000.

Yeah, mentioning that one was coming up may have been too much of a warning!

They do give us a little "bump" that's for sure!

Then there is always the weather and the little "I did this today" stories that make this thread "home."

Speaking of which, we are scheduled for possibly record breaking heat for today, they are saying that it might reach 100. I'm going to try and get 120' of post and rail fencing installed, at least I will be in the shade. Yesterday I finished up a septic system. I couldn't believe how hot it was cutting the black filter fabric. I had to make two, fifty foot cuts, the water coming off of my head was almost like a light rain!

Good morning all! Another blistering hot one here today. They are predicting thunderstorms later on which will NOT cool things off very much!

But I'm not complaining, nope, not me, I'm Mr. Happy! Even if I have to fake it!

It's what they (ha!) called a "cold front" today. Only 80's instead of high 90's (98 yesterday).

Wish this was the kind of "cold fronts" we had go through here in the winter!

What Gina said though I would also accept a " cold front " in the neighbourhood of 50 -60 degrees as well. But that 's it!

Just 2 added posts this time and mine got 9 hours and 24 minutes .

Well, due to rain today, it was only in the70s. Guess it really was a "cold front!"

Hope you all have a great week-end.

I've branched out to try the Hymn Connection thread, but it's much more difficult than this one. You identify a hymn using a word from the previous entry. Then you have to decide whether it's a "hymn" or just a spiritual song. Then you have to review the previous 3500 entries to make sure no one has used "your" hymn before. By the time you finish all that, the previous entry has often changed.

I used to be like that but discovered others posted gospel songs and choruses so I gave up pointing out they weren't true hymns . So anything goes now . Also , as long as it hasn't been used in the last dozen or so posts , they are fair game for repeats . And if you take too long just go back and edit your post . I'ver had to do that a few times .

Just 1 added post again and mine got 4 hours 58 minutes being last .

ATTN: Steve ~~ for you & others who may follow, we added "(other songs may be used, too")

Maybe we could even add a note re repetitions not mattering, b/c sooner or later many have gotten repeated, and will continue to be repeated.

Re: Who will be the last person to add to this thread?

My second night sitting in the near dark . My dining room light was taking longer to come on at the beginning of the week . Then I noted a black spot on one side so figured a bulb had burnt out . Then in the early hours of Thursday the other one burnt out . Tried calling the neighbour across the road ( the one who often parks a car or even two in my driveway ) to see if he could change them for me . He was in the States but came back late Friday afternnoon . Then I think they must have gone out . Left a message but haven't heard back . I'll try again later today . There is one light on the other side of the room and what's in the kitchen. So except for the computer screen its dark here . I hope I can get hold of him this time or I may have to ask my pastor Sunday .He changed it a few years back when my brother came but couldn't get the cover off it . Pastor had no problem .Been using a flashlight when I really needed a bit of light but even with new batteries , its not very bright . Being a hunt and peck typist I sure make lots of errors . Praying for light soon .

Re: Who will be the last person to add to this "never ending" thread?

    Sorry Marg!

It's been hectic busy around here as we are beginning our camp meeting month. We set up in Douglas on Thursday nite with the first service on Friday. We had to get things worked out and trouble free on Friday because I had to be away last night with Rhonda filling in for me on the sound board. Thankfully all went well for her, no problems.

I had a wonderful evening at the Providence, RI First Church where I was invited to sing for their 125th anniversary celebration. Hopefully I'll be able to make the 150th! The place was packed, they had set up temporary seating in every spot that they could find room and still it was standing room only! The music was great with so many there singing out, I'm sure it could be heard clearly a couple of blocks away!

Bill Gates remains as "not my friend" though as my video presentations didn't play on their computer! I had spent four hours editing video for a presentation to play with "Old Convention Song" to open which had pictures and video of area camp meetings and even a picture of our smiling DS standing in front of his cabin, I was hoping to surprise him with that one.

    Here is the video for the second song, if it will imbed here;

    http://www.imb.org/main/downloads/fl...2746-14985.flv

Looks like it didn't imbed it must be clicked on to play.

In any case the Providence Church has a rich history of missions, actually sending a missionary to Cape Verde before 1908, sending and supporting João José Dias back to evangelize his people on the island of Brava. Thus we had holiness people willing to join with Bresee, hailing from far away Cape Verde! The peoples church of Providence, RI was a missionary minded church. The crowd last night was primarily Cape Verdian people. Our former missionary to Cape Verde, Elton Wood was also in attendance, before the song I thanked him. "Rev. Wood, thank you so much for your work, you have brought so many of my friends to this country, my life is richer and blessed because of you."

Gotta go, off to Douglas for the day!
    -Jim

    Everybody up for Roll Call!

    -Jim

To know and to serve God, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth, that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard. But a little faith will see you through.

Re: Who will be the last person to add to this thread?

Good morning , Sergeant Schultz , er Jim .
Heading to bed soon but have to stay up till 8:30 so I can call a Regal order in . My lunch date for 1:30 yesterday lasted 3 hours and by then it was rush hour so took 3 times as long to get home .(Speed 100 km/h and when I wasn't stopped I got to go 10 km /h ) . So home too late to get it ready as well as call it in .

You wish , Jim ! In your dreams .

I was without phone or internet from sometime after 9AM Tuesday to Thursday afternoon , the earliest Bell could come . Turned out to be my phone was disconnected from a box down the street . I made an unscheduled trip , no where near my usual visit times here to say why I hadn't posted and lo and behold my post was the last one there !!!

I see now it has achieved 80 hours and 40 minutes being last and you think you won ?? NOT !!!

Jim is getting a bit cocky there, eh Marg? :

Noticed again in previous post that the smilies do not always post in the order in which you place them!

Alright, I've sought grief counseling over the loss of my "win." And I'm glad to be back!
