Well it was special to me! Errr, actually I was overcome with just a wee bit if the Burma Shave syndrome, but then I thought better of the idea of keeping it going until #8888!

Oh goody, we don't need to have you flooded and stranded up there! We had some minor flooding here due to the storm, but nothing of consequence. Unless you watch the news, in which case we are in a disaster zone and will be without power forever. My mom called yesterday morning, all worried that we were in big trouble, she had seen pictures of downed trees and houses on fire. Funny I didn't see a thing.

    Yep!

Looks like I'll be heading up towards your way the week after next Marg. I need to re arrange the garage, put the ATV's away and bring out the snowmobiles, and get them ready. And I'm longing for Tim Horton's!

This is a slow day on NazNet. Not even any posts on this thread. Must be more going on some places than here.

Re: Who will be the last person to add to this thread?

5 added posts and mine got 35 minutes and 23 minutes being last .

Our pastor and his wife were at clergy retreat this weekend and we had a retired professional football player speak.(Ottawa Rough Riders )
He is an ordained minister in the Nazarene church . He does quite well considering he isn't pastoring anywhere . He based it on I John 4:18 . In essence , facing our fears by claiming God's help . They handed out a small paper to all afterwards that said :

I am who the I AM says I am .

I am created by God in His image .
I am unique and of incredible value .
I have great gifts , talents , and potential .

That scripture text reminded me of a funny story I heard the second time I was in Belize ( '78) from a Spanish evangelist from Guatemala that was sharing Sunday dinner at the local pastor's home in Benque Viejo del Carmen . Joyce , the missionary I was staying with , and I were invited to dinner as well. Throughout the meal Don Luis (pastor ) and Francisco regaled us with stories one after the other , mostly in spanish and we laughed a lot . One the evangelist told was about two "novios " who were attending Bible college but were at their homes on a break . It was the girl's birthday so the guy sent her a birthday telegram that finished with the reference I John 4 : 18. However the telegraph guy said to himself that there was no such thing as first John so left off the I . Look that up in your Bible . He had me read both verses in english to be sure I didn't miss it

Well ... I have seen backhanded compliments before, Jim, but this one is subtle.

Hey! Good to see you back Steve, and yes it is! We have a light covering of snow here as we speak. I'm thinking that we will be riding in about six to eight weeks. I've still got to make a trip up north to re arrange the garage, get the maintenance done on the sleds and give the house a good cleaning.

Steve , you can have any club you want but you are responsible for welcoming others into it or farewelling others . I only do the 1000s . So congratulations on reaching your doscientos den . You have some good company .

And yes , a perk of sharing moderation with Gina , means you can correct your mistakes on "your " boards , even those that people have quoted . Rather embarassing those but still would rather have it right when I realize it was wrong !

We were supposed to get freezing rain but I think it stayed a bit warmer and that rain type stayed north of us . Thankfully . Current temp 33º.

Re: Who will be the last person to add to this "never ending" thread?

I actually got to live out an old joke this weekend.

A church in Maine held a workday to paint the building. Come late afternoon, they realized that they were going to run short on paint. So they thinned the last ten gallons down with some water in order to have enough to finish. Right after they finished, storm clouds rolled in and a deluge ensued, washing off all of the paint. As quickly as they had come, the clouds disapeared. A voice seemed to speak directly for the sun, saying "repaint, and thin no more!"

I have put off painting the front door and trim on the house I'm building as is my custom. I hate exterior painting with a passion. But it's getting colder and I'm quickly running out of days. So, on Friday I filled the nail holes. I was away on Saturday, but when I returned, I sanded the door surround and caulked all of the seams. Sunday afternoon, I went over and I painted the door trim.

When I got there this morning, something looked amiss. The paint looked real blotchy. When I got closer, I could see what happened. The dew was real heavy last night, and it formed before the paint dried. The paint was now washed down, all over the siding and the steps. I had to wipe the whole thing down with rags and scrub and wash the steps, then start over.

I could almost hear the voice.

I've still got white paint on my hands, I'm heading over in a bit to see if I'm facing a repeat of yesterday.

Good thing I'm french, I'll paint it 20 time if I need to. It's not gonna win!
