Yes. tough with work and a family but it is doable.
I wasn't complaining.
What got to me that January was every morning as I got up to teach, I'd wait in the driveway wondering ok am I gonna get the call to go back to bed or not? I lived an hour away at that time so I'd have to be up and ready to go before they would make that decision.

Our school district has to determine by 5:00 a.m. whether or not there is going to be school that day. This policy has caused a few wrong decisions such has not calling off when they should have or calling school off and having it turn out to be fine. It does make it easier though. People can go to the School District Website, or look it up on rimoftheworld.net . When my kids were still in school we would also call the district office or the school, now they have a system that automatically calls all the families and employees in the school district with an automated message letting them know there is no school. Since I am a county employee working at a school site I don't get the automated message.

We actually had a very nice day - it was 70 by afternoon and I took my longer walk without a jacket. Some times of the year I don't like it here, but this time of the year makes up for it.

By the way, I have a photo of my son Scott that was taken on Magnetic Island off of Townsville in which he's petting an albino Koala. Every time I see the photo of you with that little fellow I think of that photo (taken over 25 years ago).

I've never seen an albino koala, but my brothers and I did get some pictures with an albino kangaroo at the Australia Zoo while we were there.
