It was a bit upsetting

to watch the Baltimore Orioles pitching coach pull a young pitcher with one out in the ninth on his way to a complete game shut out. The next batter popped up for what looked like an easy second out only to have the catcher drop the ball. Then came the pitching coach to give him the hook. End results was that the Red Sox went on to win in the last of the ninth. I most often would have been glad to see the Red Sox win, always some team will whip the Yankees by the end of the season. But to me it just looked like the hook came out too soon. I suppose he had the manager's approval. But I would like to have seen him go a couple more batters to see if he couldn't have completed the shut out.

As a life long O's fan, I am used to this poor decision making for the last decade. Cal Ripken leaving the Orioles was the end of anything positive for that franchise until they get a new owner.

I hope the Orioles Pitching Coach learned his lesson. He needs to be a non anxious presence and hold the tension as his pitcher nears the victory of a complete game shut out. The starting pitcher deserves the right to give up the first hit. The pitching coach should not interfere with momentum. Once the momentum is broken by the starting pitcher then maybe the pitching coach might offer some act of wisdom but usually not. The players are ones making the game happen not the coaches. Anyway GO RED SOX! IF not the SOX sometimes a wear my YANKEES necktie when I preach, depends on the closing point.
