    Google Wave

I haven't watched the whole thing, but has anyone watched the intro video for Google Wave yet? Incredible. Does this really have the potential to replace general e-mail, SMS, instant messaging, and even forums like Naznet? I wonder if it would even at some point push Orkut past Facebook. Hard to believe...

It does seem like it will really streamline online communication.

My prayer is this: that our love would flourish more and more all the time by what we know and how well we know it so that we can be able to discern what is worthy, bringing purity before God until the day of Christ, filled with a fruit of righteousness that comes by Christ for the glory and praise of God. - Philippians 1:9-11 (JDSV)

    Re: Google Wave

I saw this in the midst of going through a whole bunch of emails and rewrites with some promotional matierials and thought it would be great. Then I thought about how it would have been great for some group projects when I was in school. I am looking forward to it.

I didn't watch the whole thing either, but I watched enough for me to put in a request for an invite.

I'll confess, it even interests me. But not enough to create a Google account. that Playback feature looks pretty sweet though.

    Re: Google Wave

At Jeremy's request I thought I might share a few things after receiving a Google Wave invite last night...

    First impressions:

It's a collaboration tool for sure. (The problem is that I don't know enough people that have Google Wave accounts to actually do any valuable collaboration.)

    I can invite.

However, the invitations are not sent immediately, unfortunately. So those I invite get added to a queue. I'm not sure if they are given priority over those requesting access from the Google Wave login page or not.

Honestly, it's not really ready for a huge onslaught of people, I don't think. It's been pretty flaky today.

It does not integrate with Google Mail, Chat or Voice. The only integration is with Contacts.

A Wave is like a conversation thread in Gmail in real time The playback is cool. You can upload files, reply to other people comment -- even edit other people's posts.

Here's a Jing screencast I did so you can sorta see how it works. It's 19.6 MB.

(you can open the .SWF in your browser or use VLC player to view it.

    Re: Google Wave

Thanks to a Naznetter, I got into Google Wave last week. I just now got a limited number of invites. I'm not sure how much interest there will be, but e-mail me with your Google ID and I can send an invite to a few.
