    Welcome to the New NazNet!

If you haven't already heard or read, NazNet suffered a complete system failure on April 14th, 2010. It is my understanding from Scott that all data, posts, and user registration has been lost.

Thus, if you haven't already, you will need to register an account.

Please remember to register using your full name, including proper capitalization and spaces.

I hope you'll jump right in and begin rebuilding the discussions.
Thanks Carolyn Franklin - "thanks" for this post

Wow. Catastrophic data loss! What every tech head fears most!

NazNet is dead. Long live NazNet!

Just a note to Dave McClung, Scott and all the others who make Naznet possible, thanks for your hard work. I probably didn't post anything that was all that memorable anyway.

One good thing is that I am starting out (at least for now) on equal footing with everyone else! How exciting!

Well the bad news is I just got to 500 posts just earlier this week after 4 years. The good news is I am now an "original" member of NazNet joining the very first day.

I need to keep posting until I'm no longer just a "junior member".
Not much to post right now, just trying to get my count up.

It was all your fault Rich! I was responding to one of your posts when it crashed and wouldn't accept my post.

So it looks like Rich Schmidt really did get the last word on NazNet!

It's like a cleansing. Perhaps Dave's cleanse has somehow affected Naznet by proxy. As much as I miss the information we've lost, it's nice to be able to start fresh once in a while. I'm excited about the possibilities.

What post were you replying to? Just curious.

I very much doubt that I got the last word, though. I hadn't been on for a while when I came back and realized that pages weren't loading.

I'm reminded of the old old NazNet. You know, the old Ceilidh (sp?) board? We've gotten spoiled by being able to do searches and pull up old threads to comment on as well as read threads/posts that are over a week old. Back then, when it was gone, it was gone! Of course, that's why thngs were rehashed over and over, so now we get to rehash them again! (I'll be glad when Scott gets the smileys reloaded. I do hope he has copies of them somewhere.)
    Blessings,
    Betty

It feels really weird to see,"post count: 1" next to Hans' name. For the first and probably last time my post count now exceeds his.

OK, I give up. I thought maybe I could catch up with every post on NazNet for just a moment in time with this fresh start, but you people are too fast for me. It's already more than I can handle. Sigh.

LOL, I thought the same thing. I kept trying to read everything so I could post and say, "For the first time in years, I have read every post on Naznet." But I can't even do it...oh well. :-)

It really is hard to believe that ALL of that is just GONE. I know there were threads I was planning to come back to. I guess I really should have taken screenshots or otherwise saved them to my hard drive.

I'm trying to to remember all the time I put into formatting the book and movie reviews so the titles would have standard form.

It'll be a little easier now.

I was going to try (and I think I did actually have them all read earlier today when there were about 15 total), but now the women's forum is back running and I really see point in me spending time there.

My 3500 posts only took a year to produce. Hans' took almost 5 years. One of us will be able to rebuild much more quickly.

Hey, at least you managed to get a "spectacular aura" about you before you had to take off. I'm still just "on a distinguished road." (For those who don't recognize these phrases, hover over someone's "reputation" rank.)

As to the women's board being a reason to not have the entire board read -- FLIMSY!!

    1. There are currently only two posts there.
    2. Could you not say -- "I have now read every post except the two on the women's board"?

I think you may as well join Jeremy and me in being honest about throwing in the towel already.

OK, you motivated me to go ahead and spend 10 minutes and read the rest of the posts I hadn't read yet. As of this moment, there isn't a single post on NazNet that I haven't read!

I'm not going to bother trying to keep up after this.

Just had to reply to Ryan's post before reading all 5 pages! Good one!

When reading wherever about what to call this crash/resurrection of NazNet (about 10 days after Resurrection Sunday), perhaps something like . . .

    "NazNet's Phoenix Moment"

    or "Day of the Phoenix"

(Where's my "thingie" by which to center these titles?)

Now, have to go read the other 4 pages! ;o)

Hahaha, Oh no you don't. Somehow I had a feeling that even the last word wasn't enough, you need more!

If i've learned one thing it is this. If there is anything for Rich to respond to he will, and he will do so in such a way that demands yet another response Oh, I should include James Diggs in this as well.

Ahh what a blissful day today will be, just nice friendly talk! I'm not messing with that formula until at least tomorrow?

    Hey, we're "regular members" now

Someone must've been working on this as we were reading. I see now that "junior members" say "regular member" ... perhaps someone's going through an old list they kept somewhere that tells them who all were "regular members" here before the crash.

(& is this post #3? think so. )

Ok, just kidding. Carbonite is an automated backup service that keeps a copy of your data in a remote secure location in case of a crash. It is advertized on the Rush Limbaugh show. Maybe there is hope for Gary yet?

If you look under my name at the top of this post it should say "regular member" and have a couple of green rectangles underneath. The number of rectangles is proportional to one's reputation. Hover over one of them and you should see some words.

At the top of this window, I see a dark blue line with options -- "New Posts" "Private Messages" "FAQ" "Calendar" "Community" etc. If I click on community, the bottom entry on the list is "Member List." Each member has the green "reputation" rectangles in their listing.

    Ha Ha

It is also advertised on Leo Laporte's the tech guy show. (based in gig harbor)

To the Naznet powers that be may want to consider a drobo for naznet. This is a very cool solution.

Ahh what a blissful day today will be, just nice friendly talk! I'm not messing with that formula until at least tomorrow?
Hmmm, if other people's posts "demand a response," are you sure it's not YOU who need the last word?

Ok, just kidding. Carbonite is an automated backup service that keeps a copy of your data in a remote secure location in case of a crash. It is advertized on the Rush Limbaugh show. Maybe there is hope for Gary yet?
If I remember correctly, Dave Ramsey was hawking Carbonite at one point. Haven't listened to talk radio in around a year, but I think Ramsey, Limbaugh, and Hannity all had ads for it on their programs.

I think Carbonite is also what they froze Han Solo in back in The Empire Strikes Back. It certainly preserved him well.

No, but we should take a collection to get NazNet to run on a Mac....Time Machine would have fixed this problem!

I'm trying to remember my Naznet Welcome! Guess it was getting stale, but I meant every word of it.

I'd just like to point out that this came true. It's 26-24 right now; I'm on the short end.

I've also noticed Shea's name won't show up on the front page because evidently he's elected one of the privacy options. Sneaky. Very sneaky.

Actually, I didn't, but I don't mind not being listed. they removed that function shortly before Hans crossed the 10k mark, and I would be fine with it going that way if I remain "top poster."

No more Grandma Carolyn? I remember there being an exception to the rule for you! But, I did notice you signed one of your posts "gc".

Yeah, I could use my "GB" nickname that someone stuck me with long ago ... but one I don't mind (wishing I were that coordinated): maybe I'll just be "Gina Ballerina," huh? LOL

[or maybe I'll just delete this post before too many people get to see it!]

Betty, I doubt that a lot of people remember the significance to the name Grandma Carolyn. Probably only me. I guess as with time all good things must come to an end.

It's OK, I can still sign my posts,

Was reminded here that I've not been the only one trying to read absolutely every post here on NazNet.

Re: Welcome to the New NazNet!

This seems a good place to put what I finally found, as it may have been this long ago since these options were available here that I was sure had been so kept looking for & never found. Choosing font/color were fun!

(wasn't imagining things, after all, LOL.
