    NHL PLayoff Picks 2010

Then I remembered the Canadians' team history of Stanley Cups, considered the Bruins' history, and decided it was a conversation I'd like to avoid altogether! HA!

But in all honesty, I'd love to see a Bruins/Habs Conference Finals. I would have to mute the TV to avoid that horrible chant however. "O-laayyy......" Ugh!
Well.... let me start it for you (just so I don't mess up the NFL thread too much).

I'm not nearly the fan I used to be. I admit it. I've fallen off the band wagon. But Montreal's victory over Washington was something else. There was a huge gap between Montreal and Washington in the regular season. For those who had an emergency to attend and somehow missed the second greatest event in history, Montreal just made it into the playoffs in their last game of the regular season. In any case, after being down 3 games to 1, they came back to win the next three and eliminate Washington.

I know most of the educated world will know this, but it's nice to type it up again anyway.

Now, for the sad news; Montreal lost last night... but that's OK. It was kind of like a wake-up call for them. I'm glad they got beat soundly. I know, it was the pits. Anyway, this will get their blood rolling for their next games.

And, on a final note..., it's "Ole" (with an accent on the "e), not Olay. I think Olay is something you put on your skin to make you look younger. I'm not sure that's what the fans have in mind when singing their lovely song while drinking down their root beer.

To call myself a "fan" would be an outright lie. I followed the Bruins as a kid back in the 80's and early 90's. Then the ownership decided that winning wasn't all that important. I think it was 2004 or 5 when the Bruins went into the playoffs as the #1 seed and were bounced in the 1st round by...Montreal. If I remember correctly. I swore off the B's until they won a playoff round. I cheated a little and watched them in the first round of the playoffs last year. The previous year I had been impressed by their efforts in the 1st round even though they lost.

I am a fair weather Bruins fan, and the weather is great right now!

The Bruins are one franchise that benefited from the lock-out and lost season. By requiring a salary floor and tightly controlling the upper limits of contracts, there is an actual incentive for owners to field competitive teams. Now instead of making money by losing, the best way to turn a profit is to win, thus allowing for the Bruins' resurgence.
    ...just my $.02.

The Bruins are really exciting right now.

To think that we could be headed to a conference finals between the Bs and Habs is intriguing.

I watched more NHL play-offs last year than I ever had before. And this year, I've not missed much of the Bruins games at all. It's funny that my attention on MLB (and the Red Sox) is waning over the last couple of years and my interest in the NHL has increased. I think it has to do with the speed of the game and my increasingly short attention-spanned mind.

These NHL play-offs have been great.

It is also probably due to the fact that the Bruins haven't won a Cup here in a long time. I'm not a big Bruins fan, but I'd go as crazy about a Stanley Cup for the Bruins as I did for the Red Sox WS win in '04.
