In 1974 Steve Adams was Minister of Music at the Xenia, Ohio, Church of the Nazarene. One day in April he was driving through town when he saw a funnel cloud headed straight toward him. He knew he could not outrun or outmaneuver the tornado, so he stopped his car and ran into a furniture store.
He dove under an overturned sofa for protection and lay on the floor as the tornado destroyed the building. It also destroyed his Nazarene church. After the storm passed and the winds died, Steve spent a long time digging himself out. Obviously, he was thankful to God for sparing him. The experience inspired him to write . . .
