Has anyone else had problems with

vehicles roof sunliners? Today after having my KIA checked out for our proposed trip to Billings, Montana some 600 miles away, I left only to have the engine light come on so I took it back. After numerous tests I was told that water had evidently leaked through the sunliner and had seaped down between the body shell and the inside liner and had reached the computer underneath the passenger side floor board and had shorted out some of the connections. I was told that if the light stayed on steady it meant that a fault was discovered but that I was not to worry unless the light started blinking. It seems strange to me that after the unusual amount of rain that we have had this spring that engine light had not come on but only after the car was washed after the first round of work. Should we cancel our trip the purpose of which was to see Esther's mother for possibly the last time as she is 95 and failing in her nursing home?

Sounds like you need a second opinion. It makes sense that it may have leaked during the wash, but I would think that it should be dried out and the light reset before you go. I would bring it to a reputable shop or dealer for a second look.

To know and to serve God, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth, that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard. But a little faith will see you through.

It was the KIA dealer the owner of which is a personal friend but that doesn't say that some his employees might try to pull a fast one on an old geezer. I think it is dried out since it has not come on since and we are set to go as Esther's mother's situation is quite tenuous.

In any event, get a AAA Plus membership, for all drivers in the household. Peace of mind, and should breakdown happen, pays for itself with one tow.

Glad you're getting to go Jim. Gods speed! (The rest of us keep it within a few miles of the limit )

I agree Marian. We've always had one for ourselves and kids. Now that they're older, I was pleasantly surprised on a trip recently in our daughters car we had trouble on the expressway, far from home, and two sleeping toddlers in the back. My daughter pulled out her AAA card...

Yes, AAA has been good. But learned this year (if this ever happens to you, your vehicle has real problems!) that, if you've used up your year's worth in six months or less, you can't buy yet another one with which to finish out the year, tho' a tow w/o such a plan could be as costly.

So, I did find another one with which to finish out the year until this last January came and I could pick up AAA again.

The dealer said you'd be okay, so I think you should go on your trip.

This post is coming to you from the Laurel, MT library. We have enjoyed a visit with Esther's mother both yesterday and today and will visit some more on Tuesday and Wednesday before we return to Boise on Thursday and Friday. We had great weather on the way over and the KIA ran great. Thanks for all the helpfull suggestions.
