Going off grid with Android Google Maps

Google has now released an off line addon for the Android Maps app. If you are going to an area that is off grid you can download 10 mile square sections ahead of time and continue to use your Android for mapping. This is a nice plus for people headed off the beaten track or for international destinations. Check it out here.
Thanks Dennis M. Scott, Craig Laughlin - "thanks" for this post

Good information. There is an area near our town that is out of cell range. It will be helpful to still have that map. Now I can download Yellowstone and have a good map of it!

Yeah, I went through that area a few years ago when I was enroute from Yellowstone to Cody. Could be how I wound up at the Buffalo Bill Antlers Motel. Oh well, swank isn't everything.
