Ken is a retired elder in the church of the nazarene. His retirement was forced on him by Parkinson's Disease. PD is a neurodegenerative disease for which there is no cure and few ways to slow its progress.

This is a fairly short book that Ken used to provide some important insights about facing life's biggest trials. The stories that Ken share include a lot of humor. This is not a depressing book at all. Many will find it helpful if you or loved ones are going through debilitating circumstances. I think many pastors or counselors might find it helpful for people who are in similar circumstances.

The print version should be available on amazon within the next week or two. "When Life Shakes You Up" is not "5 steps to a groovey life" type of book but I do think the book provides a helpful framework for a faith response to crisis.

In 1970, four ENC guys with a call to ministry decided to major in sociology. They graduated from college together, and then enrolled and graduated from NTS. Don Kaufman, Ken Mingledorf, Ken Ardry and Dennis Scott have stayed in pretty close contact over the years, and have served in a varieity of ministry rolls. We look forward to being together, and our wives have collectively rolled their eyes when we pool our senses of humor and antics. We have sometimes from distance shared victories, challenges, and disappointments. Ken's Parkinsons ended a solid pastoral career, but it has not lessened his spirit or example. Thanks for this review and update.

Ken Ardry, Don Kaufman and I spent a couple hours together yesterday at our 40th reunion homecoming weekend. Ken Mingledorf had to cancel at the last minute, and couldn't be with us. Our reunion gathering happened to be at our house, where there were nearly fifty people.

Ken's doing well: humor intact. He autographed my copy of his book.
