    Who else here is a

philatelist? It is one of the factors that got me interested in Geography. I have a collection that I have not done much with since I was in high school that my Grandmother started in about 1895. Wonder how I can get it appraised with out it costing me an arm and a leg.

I am a member of the American Philatelic Society, the German Philatelic Society, and the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society (UK). My specialties are collecting Germany and New Zealand, with a fondness for the stamps of several other countries also. Philately has played a major role in reducing stress and maintaining what little sanity I have left.

My father, a former college profesor, found that philately helped him with his stress and sanity, too. I think his main areas were Czechoslovakia and the US. He has given most of his collection to a Wounded Vets organization.

As one who is constantly rushing here there and everywhere (full cup syndrome on the "stress-o-meter") maybe I need to take up Philately to de-stress after each days work. As for my country of choice..... somewhere obscure like maybe Bhutan near or on the Himalayas.

I had a pretty sizable collection as a kid. I'm hoping to dig it out of my parents' attic some day... maybe do some stuff with my son.

Used to have a good one but lost interest transferring from one book to another . Still saved mint Canadian and US for many years thereafter in the hope I'd get back at it but never did . Gave most of my collection to my pastor's youngest daughter . Saved my mint Canadian, many in blocks , and now use them to make up the 59 cents postage for what little I send by snail mail .
