What do you like with your breakfast cereal?

For me, breakfast cereal is the midnight snack of choice. Post Great Grains with raisins, dates and pecans is my favorite. It's got everything in it that I could possibly want to munch (except the milk -- I add that all by myself!)

Someone told me that the whole idea behind cereal was to get kids to consume milk on a regular basis. That was a couple hundred years ago, I guess, and rumored to have started in Kellogg, Michigan. Anyone else heard that?

My dad warmed his shredded wheat with hot water all the time. I always thought it was incredibly gross.

Mostly I have raisins with a few nuts, but at other times I might slice up a banana or add some other seasonal fruit chopped up. And I really love my cereal with warm full cream milk.... yum!

I only add milk. But then, most of the cereal I eat already has plenty of sugar & other stuff in it!

Just a few minutes ago, for example, I had a bowl of Frosted Mini-Wheats. I'm a big fan of Cap'n Crunch with Crunchberries. Etc.

The only other thing I've added to cereal besides milk is soft-serve vanilla ice cream. Back when I was at Olivet, besides the main lines for hot food, they always had an ice cream bar and (in the mornings) a cereal bar out in the cafeteria. So I'd often put some Lucky Charms in a bowl with some soft-serve ice cream on top. Stir it up, and it's a great-tasting breakfast!

When I was there, the cereal was out all for all meals. It is where I learned to love cereal for dinner. Sometimes, it was the best thing going for evening meals.

I think it was probably there for all meals when I was there, too. '92-'97. I don't really remember.

Close, Dennis. That's the company's name. The city is Battle Creek, Michigan. The cereal capital is where Walt and Donna Thompson now live ... the last 2-3 years or so.

I'm a weirdo. I was never a big cereal fan, mostly because I hate milk and hate soggy food. I generally ate Cap'n Crunch w/ Crunchberries or Cinnamon Toast Crunch. When I did, I ate these plain, with no milk or anything. It is usually a snack food for me. If I'm eating breakfast it is eggs, toast, peanut butter, and fruit.

The cereal I like doesn't get soggy; it's already softened via a bit of cooking ... tend to like hot cereal ~~ oatmeal included ~~ better than cold cereal.
