    New NBA Deal

Here's a link to a the basic framework agreed to by the two sides in the NBA dispute. There are still some things that may change and some details to be worked out.

I am glad they finally have an agreement. However, it got me to thinking: All NBA seasons in the future should start on Christmas and end on Easter (regular season)! Not many pay attention until then anyway due to High School and college football as well as the NFL.

An amateur sport should never be given precedent over a professional sport.

Because it's an amateur sport. I think it's a joke that the NCAA makes billions off of amateur athletes who make at most $100k a year, and to think that another sport would back out so as to afford more viewership and more revenue to the NCAA? Absolutely not. The popularity of NCAA football is a terrible thing. Don't feed it.

College football is not an amateur sport, at least not at the BCS level.

Yes it is. Are the players professionals? Do they get paid? Or do they receive about $100k from a school while the NCAA profits millions and billions? The whole thing is a sham.

It's a sham mostly because they call it amateur when it's really professional. That's also why people like it, because it's a professional sport.

The NBA wasn't backing out to make room for NCAA Division 1 Football. They just couldn't figure out how to spread the greed around. Does your employer compensate you fairly for how much they make off of you?

    It's the minor league NFL.

The NCAA doesn't make anything off college football. The schools receive lots of money, but few of them actually make a profit. Coaches and advertisers and Nike and ESPN make money from college football, but very few schools turn a profit. The football money underwrites the other sports in the athletic department.

The NCAA profits zero from college football. The NCAA makes money from college basketball. The reason we will see four 16 team conferences is to keep the NCAA from grabbing a piece of the action.

I would say that $50/hour is more than fair for the work I do on Friday and Saturday nights. Absolutely.

And I'd say an all expenses paid education is more than fair for the work a student does to play a game.
