2nd Sunday of Advent (December 4th)

Is anyone preaching from Mark 1:1-8?

I am loving this text for advent. The Marcan account doesn't spend time concerned about the "fanfare" that came with Jesus' arrival, but instead, gets down to the depth of why Christ has come and how John the baptist plays a role in fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah.

In this text is there room to expound upon the so called "silent age" that proceeded Christ?

I am leading my church through illuminate: an advent experience from pub house. Anyone participating?
Thanks Susan Unger - "thanks" for this post

Dave, We are using "Illuminate." People love it. I am using Luke 1: 5-25 which describes the Zechariah experience in the temple and the resulting condition of silence. My message is "A Profound Silence" In our noisy world, silence nurtures peace, in silence we experience holiness, silence is broken with praise. The cry in the wilderness follows a season of silence.
