    I "need" a laptop

I bought this HP desktop in March 2010 and already the "AMD Athlon II x4 Quad-Core Processor" is shot. I purchased it at Best Buy and took in it, because it's getting slower and slower, and the diagnosis was not good. But it's still under extended warranty so they'll replace the processor no church, which is certainly good news (to me).

The bad news is that it will be gone for 2-4 weeks.

    Cute, eh?

So in the meantime I'm shopping for a laptop - to use while the desktop is out for repair.

I would really like to have no less than:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
    6 GB DDR 3 Memory
    1 TB Hard Drive

Further, I'd also like to have an HDMI output, if possible.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you
    -neb

How much do you want to spend? My last laptop purchase was late 2008 and I purchased a Asus brand gaming laptop though HP,DELL, are popular brands as well. I tend to look at graphics performance as well as CPU performance in the specs. I also have always stayed with Intel processors products. With the current Hard drive shortages a 1gig HD may push up the price somewhat. You can also add a external HD.

    I would suggest this: http://www.staples.com/Logitech-Wire...product_869097

If you are going to be using this at home. The laptop mouse and keyboard are really a pain to use on a consistent basis. I've never met a laptop mouse that I like!!!

PS You can get a much cheaper version of this that works just as efficiently. That was just an example I quickly found.

    Re: I "need" a laptop

I've slowly moved to exclusively using my laptop. It's more powerful than my desktop and can be used anywhere. I sat in the doctor's office yesterday doing some church work while waiting on the doctor.

I do use a wireless mouse when at home. My Easyboy recliner has nice wide, padded arms that work perfectly for the mouse. In fact, my one real complaint about this Lenovo laptop is that the touchpad drives me crazy.

Anyway, I think you'll enjoy the laptop.

am here (see me?) in my Lazy-Boy (named fofr moi) and this lapgop is driving me CRAZY (er).

    The text is too small
I cannot "control" the mouse - having major issues navigating
The drop down menus disappear within a nano-second
    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

In spite of all that yesterday I managed to

    a) get major files transferred from the external hard drive.
    b) got my email up and running
    c) Last evening we watched ONU live streaming on our 56" tv using the HDMI connections - which was GREAT fun.

ONE of today's goals is to get my bride's email up and running.

    Thanx one and all

You can adjust the screen resolution if you want.

Weird. In each and every application you are running?

It's the mouse. Get an external wireless mouse. It will definitely help.

As for the screen resolution, you can change that.

    Have fun!!!
