    Conversation with a phone

I was sitting at a light, about 4 cars back and decided to call home.

My Android is mounted on the dash, so I reached out and punched the "voice command" icon. At that point, I found myself in a conversation, not with home, but with the phone.

"Please state your command," it says.

"Call home," I command in a clear voice. After all, I'm not interested in calling Nome or somewhere else.

The phone responds, "Did you say 'call home'?" she (a very business like woman's voice) asks.

    "Yes," I respond.

She asks, "From which location?" I forgot that I have an alternate home number in there.

    "Home 1," is my reply.

"Next time, say, 'call Home 1," she instructs. Then, "Calling."

And, finally, the light has changed and, since there is no answer, I drive along wondering if my phone and I can have any other instructive, for me, conversations.

Linda was talking with her phone, and said, "I don't think you're as smart as you advertise." The phone said, "You're entitled to your opinion. I think I detect a poor attitude."

She might as well be talking to me.

I just wish I could figure out how to get my phone to talk to me! I knew how to do it on my old phone, but this one just talks to me when I don't want it to.
    Blessings,

I've encountered the opposite problem. My phone was listening to me without my knowledge.

My phone has a voice command feature that cannot be disabled, or at least I haven't figured out how. If you double tap the home key it will activate the voice command feature and start calling whomever it thinks it heard you ask for. Since it's easy to accidentally double tap the home key when putting it back into it's holder, it was calling lots of people for a while.

Finally I figured out how to reprogram the double tap feature to open the browser instead of the voice command. Now it doesn't call anyone, it just shows up here and I'm guessing it minds it's own business.

To know and to serve God, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth, that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard. But a little faith will see you through.

I think the next big spiritual frontier is going to be electronic exorcism - between computers and their ubiquitous little minions there's a whale of an opportunity for a cyber deliverance ministry. And a good secondary market will be found in 12 step programs for the victims of these infernal devices.
I can recall hearing the joke 50=+ years ago about the huge mainframe computer that was asked if their was a God. Reels turned, machinery churned, lights flashed and at last a printout emerged stating: "Now there is."
    Prophetic?
