Any other pastors preaching on 2Cor. 5:17 tomorrow

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

I generally stay off topical preaching, but since it's New Years Day I can't resist using this passage. I know some pastors are bound by the lectionary (I'm kidding all the way on the bound part ) but the rest of us are a bit more free wheeling - is anyone else using the passage?

I'm not. I'll be preaching from Luke 2:21-32.

No, but that would be good. I'm doing Philippians 2:1-4

    Sounds like a wise move.

I personally follow the lectionary, but I think this verse would inspire a wonderful topical sermon! I will ask my husband what he has planned for his youth.

Using Casting Crowns song "Slow Fade" to talk about the slippery slope.

I am using New Years Day to set the theme tomorrow. I did consider 2 Cor. 5:17 but ultimately went elsewhere.

I'm going to follow the RCL for a while. I preached through the bible last year and spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to preach from week to week. I've never been slavish about the RCL, but from time to time I'll jump onto the lectionary cycle. So I'm preaching Isaiah 61:10-62:3.
