    Just wondering why

if bride's are not likely to wear their wedding dress but one time and the groom could use a tuxedo to concerts and other formal occasions why brides go to the expense of buying a dress and grooms most often rent their tuxedos? My bride actually borrowed the wedding dress she wore from one of my former girlfriends whose brother was my best friend in college and his family were very close. They offered it to her. Both ladies were very close to the same size.

It's conditioning, Jim. Our culture has conditioned (most) brides into believing that they have to buy a new dress. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

(My bride bought a new dress, but hey, we were young. Two other brides have since worn it.)

Made mine, which was sort of fun.

Jim, if at your age you haven't learned that you don't question what women do or why they do it (especially regarding weddings), there is just no hope for you

I am younger than you think trying to look at the practicality but I guess that doesn't fit in this case. For 2 1/2 years I worked for a men's wear establishment that included the renting of tuxedos and have fit a fair number of grooms for their wedding.

I would say that is the answer. We are also conditioned to believe that women need huge rocks on their fingers with a hefty price tag.
