President John Tyler's grandsons
The recent revelation that our 10th president has living grandsons does not seem so surprising to me as my paternal grandfather was born in 1831. My father was born in 1885 and was almost 52 when I was born in 1937. To realize that I have lived well over 1/4 of our nation's history seems quite natural. Currently I am reading a children's biography of Benjamin Franklin, copyright 1898, written as though the author, Elbridge S. Brooks is verbally telling the story to a group of youngsters. Grandpa, Truman Freeman Franklin was a grandnephew of the old statesman. I do recognize familiar family traits in this narrative.

Re: President John Tyler's grandsons
Here's the article about which Jim is referring. I am familiar with the phrase "Tippecanoe and Tyler, too" as there is a bio of Tyler entitled "And Tyler, too" which I never read. Reading about him in Wikipedia though has me wishing I had had read it. Our media makes our current presidents sound so shockingly horrible yet some of these guys back then weren't too great either. In fact, I think Tyler would come across worse than our modern ones.
